[LIST] Working USB 3.0 to SATA Adapters / Enclosures

Recommended Posts

I know many people do not suggest to use USB3.0 to SATA adapters, but I tested the following without problems:

Working out of the Box

All Adapters with the ASM1151E bridge chip should work.

Performance

It's the same as with SATA (Disk3 and Disk6 are connected through USB), but power consumption raises by ~1.5W per USB drive:

I don't know if any working multi-bay solution exists.

But multi-bay is not recommended at all as sharing one serial port (USB is serial) is bad for parallel access (like parity writes or parity check). It would be the same than connecting 5 HDDs to one SATA port (but with additional USB overhead). I guess a parity check would run with <30 MB/s.
