JMineable
Hi Unraid community, I am running into a problem assigning a 8TB drive to my data drive pool. Recently I bought two HGST HUH728080AL4200 (8TB drives) orginally they are formatted in 4kn sectors, but because my PERC H710P Mini does not support this format I reformatted them to 512 sectors. My current setup is shown in the picture below: The problem is that when I try to move parity drive (1 or 2) to the data pool it says the biggest drive is not a parity drive. What I tried so far: Swap parity positions, Unassigning one of them and re-adding to the drive pool, Swapping with a data drive. Omreport reports that both drives are exactly the same size as shown in the pictures below: ID: 0 ID: 6 I really hope someone is able to help! Kind regards, Jorn Quote Link to comment
trurl
This is one of many problems which can be caused by using RAID controller. Go to Tools - Diagnostics and attach the complete Diagnostics ZIP file to your NEXT post in this thread. Quote Link to comment
JMineable
Thanks for the fast response! I have included the diagnostics here: thecore-diagnostics-20201101-1715.zip Quote This is one of many problems which can be caused by using RAID controller. I was actually worried about this. I really don't want to flash my raid card into IT mode if it can be prevented. Quote Link to comment

JMineable
Okay then... I quess I need to find a compatible controller in IT mode for my R720xd. Any suggestions perhaps? Are there any workarounds I might be able to try? Like making one disk smaller? Quote Link to comment
JMineable
Sooo.... I kinda cheated. I unassigned the second parity drive and formated it with parted so it would be a little bit smaller and it worked Not suggested as a permanent solution! Quote Link to comment
