January 25, 201115 yr It does not say it anywhere. Is this power supply a single rail design? I can't tell by reading the stats/specs. I know the older model the X650 has VERY good ratings and probably is the best 650 power supply made. I don't have any reviews on the newer X series models but I am really hoping they keep up the same quality. I did purchase a Corsair 650TX, but my OCD is really wanting a modular design and an almost silent fan. Even with a %25 load which I'll barely use will keep the fan it idle. http://www.seasonicusa.com/NEW_X-series_560-660-760-850.htm
January 25, 201115 yr I answered your question in the Good Deals forum.. The PS you asked about there is a single rail supply with 54 amp output on the single 12 volt rail..
January 25, 201115 yr Author I answered your question in the Good Deals forum.. The PS you asked about there is a single rail supply with 54 amp output on the single 12 volt rail.. O, ok...I must have completely missed it. Not a cheap power supply but it rates good and most of the time the PS fan will be off even with my unRAID using 10 drives most likely.
February 26, 201115 yr I would also like to know how I can tell if a power supply is a recommended "single rail" and whether it's sufficient. I'm using this one with a max of 8 hard drives. http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx?C=1264&ID=1978#Tab1
February 27, 201115 yr I agree, the term "single rail" is not widely used in the specs. Some shops are tagging the PSUs with that info, which might help. In the specs for a PSU with multi-rail config, you normally find details for more than one +12V outlet, where each outlet is numbered, like +12V1 18A, +12V2 18A ,..., 12Vx nnA....see here for an example In fact, at least here in Europe, publishing the specs like this is required, I believe.
February 27, 201115 yr Thanks. My Thermaltake PSU shows a single +12 50A in the specs. So I guess I'm going to assume it's a single rail.
