Password for "free" version SOLVED

So I'm booted into unRAID from the USB stick, but, it's asking for a Login and Password.

I got the Admin right, but can't figure out what the password should be.

I've looked thru the online manual and can't find it there either..

Any ideas?

Are you looking at a monitor that is hooked up to the server?  If so, you don't need to enter anything there, everything can be done from the web GUI.

have a look through the Configuration Tutorial and see if some of your questions are answered there.

Hiya

If your logging into Unraid for the first time, there isn't a password.

You can set the password up in the web interface.

John

Does the web-gui work? Everything required is accessible via the web-gui.

At the command line enter login root. No password will be asked unless you change it through the GUI.

Yup! Yup!

Was looking at the CL from the host computer, read a bit more, and was able to log in via //Tower, and then from the IP address...

Set the root password to something, and for now that's all I can do, since I'm not on a computer with drives in it I can set up or use for anything at the moment.

So far, it looks easier than I expected...

I'd say the only real  holdback MIGHT be afp service, since everyone in the group are all on Macs... but they can do SMB in the meantime.

Thank you for your speedy and informed replies!

FYI you can log in at the console without ever going into the web interface.  By default the root account is enabled with no password so just enter

root

at the login prompt and you will be logged in without the system asking for a password.
