Very slow SMB performance after upgrading to 6.8.3

I've had this problem in the past when upgrading. I upgraded from 6.8.2 to 6.8.3 and right away my SMB performance plummeted. I have some folders with huge numbers of files in them and before it was a few seconds to be able to work in those folders and now it's a good minute plus that I'm waiting. The previous fix was to add:

 

"case sensitive = yes"

 

to the SMB extras which worked fantastically. That is still present but now the shares are taking forever to load. Is there there something else I can do? I'm pretty much just using Windows 10 machines to access these shares.
