Video files stutter with playback

Featured Replies

Hello everyone.

Issue

Our office server is currently stuttering during playback of raw video files. The issue does not seem to be occurring with smaller, fully exported video files but primarily with raw videos (whether a 200MB file or 28GB file). Our hardware specs seem to be

Specs:

Running unRAID 6.8.3

45Drives server with 4 8TB Seagate Exos drives (with 2 additional drives as parity)

Intel Xeon Silver 4110 CPU @ 2.1Ghz

32GB RAM

2 Seagate Nytro 960GB drives pooled together as cache

We have two 1GB ethernet lines bonded together, so I don't believe internet speed is the issue (though I could be wrong). The issue occurs even on the local office network.

I also have a Debian VM with FileCloud (enterprise file sharing) running on the machine.

I've tried diagnosing when the issue occurs but it appears to consistently occur, even if no one is accessing the VM/FileCloud and even if the video playback is the only thing occurring on the server at the time. The only weird thing I've noticed is that sometimes the CPU usage spikes up on one CPU core to 100% while the remaining cores remain <5% load, however most of the time all cores are running <10%, even when the video is stuttering/freezing.

Would it have something to do with jumbo frames or some other limitation?

Thank you for your help.
