btrfs Cache Unmountable: No file system help

Featured Replies

Hey guys

My Cache drive is coming up as Unmountable: No file system.

I've read through the forums and tried the help section from...

But when going through the steps I am able to save the info from the cache drive to folder /x but when copying from /x to a backup folder on disk 1 of the array using midnight commander a lot of the files comes up with an error of...

"cannot read source file "etc etc etc" input/output error (5)"

It just gives the options to skip, skip all, retry, abort but I feel I need ALL of the info from the cache in order to format it and copy everything back across in order to have my cache drive running again.

I am all new to this stuff, any help would be appriciated.

Diags are after rebooting, what recovery option from the FAQ are you trying?

I'm trying to copy all the files from the cache drive (a 120gig SSD, sdb) to the disk1 of the array so that I can format the cache drive and rebuild it using the files that I've made on /x (as per the faq forum link I posted).

You didn't answer my question but I assume you're using option 1 in the FAQ, i/o errors during copy suggest checksum errors or another hardware issue, try option 2 (btrfs restore).

Oh sorry, yes I was trying option 1.

Option 2 gives me the following error...

ERROR: cannot map block logical 23644340224 length 2147483648: -2
Error copying data for /mnt/disk1/backup/system/libvirt/libvirt.img
Error searching /mnt/disk1/backup/system/libvirt/libvirt.img

Use the option that skips errors.

Ah yes sorry just read that bit (I'm trying to fix my server and get the kids ready for school at the same time - naughty dad lol)...

OK sweet.  It looks like it did it.  looking at the files in the backup that it created it looks like all my dockers and VM is saved. Nice.

The FAQ says... "If it works check that restored data is OK, then format the original btrfs device or pool and restore data."

Just not sure about the restore data part.

After I format the SSD do I just copy these files back over to it once its formatted?
