Unraid SMB half speed SSH full speed

Featured Replies

So I have been on the fence about going to Unraid for a bit now.  The past few days I decided to run a test system that I would be using as the Unraid Server.

I installed a single drive and setup a single User share.  Tried to rsync something over and would get ~20MB/s.  That's just horrible speeds.  I move the same file through the file browser and I get speeds of about 50-60 MB/s,  Thats better but still now what it should be.  I then tried sending the files just over SSH.  I get ~95 MB/s.

I have seen countless threads about Unraid having a smb problem.  After spending two days testing and playing with this.  I do believe there is an issue there.

The machine I had planned on using is a Poweredge C2100.  ( I know its an older machine).

So I setup another machine Ryzen 7 1700 just to see if I get the same results.  I did!

I created a small video to show what I am talking about.  Hopefully this can get fixed soon.  I'd really like to switch my setup over to Unraid!

A little more info.

That ryzen machine is usually running Windows 10 so I can play some games.  Well, I tested sending a file from it over SMB and would get ~113MB/s.   I did multiple live boots of different distros.  Ubuntu, Fedora, Manjaro with that machine also.    All with the same results as my first post. . Slow over SMB fast over SSH.
