Hi,

I have a problem since quite some time with my xbox one tv dvb-c stick. After some time my complete host crash and needs a hard reboot.

https://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Xbox_One_Digital_TV_Tuner

Often I can see in the tvheadend docker..

After some time my complete crash and needs a hard reboot.

Do you think it's caused by the Plugin/DVB Stick? Can you post your Diagnostics please (Tools -> Diagnostics -> Download -> drop the downloaded zip file here in the text box - you can also send me the Diagnostics via PM if you feel more comfortable to do it that way ;) ).

This seems like a unstable connection or it fall from the bus.

Have you already tried another USB port?

I have a problem since quite some time with my xbox one tv dvb-c stick.

Can you remember since when you got that issue, sounds like it was not always the case that the server crashes and the DVB Stick drops.

I have a tvheadend setup to use the DVB adapters. Using the exact same network/mux/channel setup that works successfully on the USB dongle, I can properly get all the DVB-T streams (SD), but no DVB-T2 (HD) stream.

Can you try to do a new scan with the "new" card, eventually something changed from the old one and does not work properly now...

I will send diagnostics.

I look like it, the connection breaks and a call trace happens and so. In the 6.10 rc1 its seems like it wouldnt crash instant with this, before in 6.09 it would crash every time the sticks acts buggy.

I cant quite remember, I changed now port because before I was using a usb 3.0 motherboard extension.

I recently picked up an AVerTV stick from here. The plugin doesn't seem to recognize it. Any suggestions?

edit: Think I just answered my own question. Doesn't seem to work with Linux. Crap! Can anyone recommend a good USB tuner. I had been previously using an Xbox one, but it didn't work very well on Unraid. Half the time it would never tune the channel (but worked fine with the Xbox).

I would strongly recommend to use a PCIe based card instead of USB...

I can strongly recommend DVBSky or TBS, if you have a little more money to spend look for DigitalDevices cards...

I'd love to, but no open PCI slots.

may consider a network tuner, like hdhomerun, octopus net, ... i also never had a long term fun with USB tuners here, as you describe, its working sometimes, a while, ... hard to debug what is happening and may no clue how to solve this as all would be just a workaround like keepalive, reinitialize, ... i know they do their job on the xbox, but that's hard to compare as its just for the xbox and prolly not running 24/7, may some fixes in the xbox firmware etc etc ...

in the end, i also can only recommend pci tuners or network tuners (usually pci tuners on a sep platform ;))

Thanks! Turns out things messed up further with all the back and forth and now I can't get the HD channels on either the PCI or the USB tuners. I'm beginning to suspect something is going on with the DVB-T2 provider(!). They have a reputation of malfunctions... will keep working on that.

My WinTV-quadHD card has been having issues for a week or so, probably since a recent re-start.

I'm getting a bunch of cx23885 errors including the common "mpeg risc op code error". This page indicates it's likely due to Vt-d/Vt-x https://github.com/b-rad-NDi/Ubuntu-media-tree-kernel-builder/issues/69

Is anyone else seeing similar issues wiith their WinTV-quadHD card recently?

I had this at the end of my /boot/config/go file for some time now but it doesn't seem to help anymore.

echo "options cx23885 dma_reset_workaround=2" >> /etc/modprobe.d/cx23885.conf

You have to do it like described here:

Otherwise the option would do nothing...

You have to modify the line a bit, simply append: "cx23885.dma_reset_workaround=2" (without quotes) to your syslinux.config

What I also would recommend is to shutdown the server entirely, pull the power cord from the wall, press the power and reset button a few times (to empty the caps) and then put the power cord back into the wall and turn on the server again.

I experience that sometimes that one of my cards is not recognized or all are not recognized after multiple reboots.

Hi guys,

i am new to unraid and i wonder if it is possible to use my TBS 6921 pcie dvb s2 card with this plugin.

I used it in this hardwaresetup for years with windows homeserver.

Now in unraid it doesn't show up at all. 'lspci' don't show a Multimedia video controller with 6921:8888.

Crawling the net shows that there is/were support for this card in linux back in the day.

README_TBS6921

TBS6921

Do you see a possibility to make this card running in my unraid 6.9.2 setup ?

Thanks in advance

regards

TBS 6921

Seems like they are not supported anymore in the official TBS Package: Click (full list from supported cards is at the bottom)

This is not the official Github repo and I think these drivers won't compile anymore.

Even here you can't find the card anymore in the list: Click

From what I see this is a very old card and should be based on CX23885 but it seems to me that it is not supported anymore.

You can find such cards (dual tuners) for cheap on ebay or locally on the used marked.

I bought such a card for about Eur. 25,- about a year ago.

Thanks @ich777, really appreciate your help - thanks for helping the unRAID community with your plugins/development and assistance on the forums.

Is there any significant difference between a dual sat tuner from TBS vs DigitalDevices?

I'm using TBS since years and it's doing everything what it should do. Now a friend of mine gave me his DD and i'm thinking if i should replace my TBS.

Hmm, never touch a running system. ...but perhaps the DD can do something very well...?

Hey guys, I have spent a few hours and cannot for the life of me to get my QuadHD tuner to show up at all in even in the DVB info screen. I've tried rebooting with all three packages, forcing it to device 56 and 57 in the Flash code, turned off server and emptied caps. I guess next step is to rip the card out and try in a windows PC to see if it is recognized there at least. Is there something obvious I could be missing?

Please post your Diagnostics, I need the device IDs to look into this.

Can you post a screenshot of how you tried to force the driver to use other IDs?

This is a Analog/DVB-T Tuner and is not supported anymore. Are you able to receive DVB-T where you live?

The Xbox ONE USB tuner should work with the LibreELEC drivers that are installed by default.

Thank you for the info. I live in Australia.

I’m not sure about the DVB-T standard being used, I thought all DVB-T we’re digital, or do you mean this tuner does Analog as well as DVB-T (Digital)?

if the Xbox tuners work well then that’s great because I found a guy selling brand new ones for very cheap.

if I can use 2 or 3 of them then I will be ver happy.

cheers

Sorry wasn't clear enough, it supports both standards but DVB-T2 is the common standard and DVB-T, at least in our country (Austria), was shutdown a few years ago.

Anyways, you can try the card but I don't think it will be recognized.

Yes, but keep in mind they can drop the connection sometimes depending on the motherboard that you are using it with, a few pages back I think a user had such an issue with a AMD motherboard.

I recommend using PCIe based cards, but USB Tuners should also work normally.

Don't know if you can get DVBSky or TBS Cards where you live but I've picked up a Dual Tuner DVBSky DVB-T2/C Card for cheap at the local used market (Euro ~30,-)
