September 22, 200718 yr Just upgraded to 4.2b4. System came up smoothly, accessed the WEB page and began exploring. Hit the Shares page and got a 404. Rebooted from the Telnet console, system comes up doing a parity check, access shares page, 404 again. Shares are still accessible however so I'm not rebooting it again just yet. Anyone else seeing this? From the Syslog below, some Vars missing maybe? September 22, 200718 yr Do you have one or more disks with lots and lots of files in the top-level directory? For example, something like this: //tower/disk1/file1 //tower/disk1/file2 : //tower/disk1/fileN <-- N is big If so, please disable User shares, and then reorganize the directory structure so that you only have a few top level directories, and all the files are below that. Then re-enable User shares.
September 23, 200718 yr Author Yes, I've actually got FILEs at the top level and starting up takes added time as it parses through it (grr). How do I go about disabling shares? Reorganizing is fine, sorely needed perhaps, so no issues there :-)
September 23, 200718 yr Same crashing when opening the shares tab. Aprox, what constitutes too many files in the root? For the most part all of my drives have a folder then files. How about, how many directories. Is it dependent on the ram in the system? Thanks B
September 23, 200718 yr JUst had the same here on the 1 unraid I have that can use 4.2b4. All was running fine, I added a new share called "todo" and got please wait.... Waited & waited, eventually tried logging on to the webpage again but couldn't access. I telnet'ed into the unraid and tried a poweroff it reported that it was going down, but didn't. I had no access from the actual unraid box but telent was still listing ok. I tried stop, shutdown with various options and it was reported that disks 1 & 7 were busy, these are the disks that contain "todo" folders. In the end I had to push the reset button and parity is now rebuilding. Mark.
September 25, 200718 yr Author Finally got a chance to reboot my array - actually it went offline and needed to be rebooted but.... Going to the shares tab I already had User Shares disabled..... I ammoving back to 4.1 for now as this isn't stable, for me, for more than a day or two.
