January 27, 201115 yr I have 5 disks in the array, 1 parity, 4 data. I just added my 4th data disk and would like to set it aside for only my timemachine backups. The array has been running with the new disk for a few weeks and I most likely have data on that disk now. Inorder to make sure only my timemachine backups go there so I do this? 1. move all the data off disk4 to the other disks. 2. stop the array 3. update all my usershares to exclude disk4 through the web admin 4. start the array 5. create a new sparsebundle image and copy it to ../disk4/ 6. start backing up Is this how you would isolate the timemachine backups from the other disks?
January 27, 201115 yr I believe you need to use a disk share for TM to work. It will eventually fail if you try to use a user share.
