Splnuts 1st build

Recommended Posts

I've been reading the forums for the past couple weeks and playing around with it on my old computer but decided to go ahead and get everything together for a small server.

RAM: Super Talent 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800

Case: Apex MJ-16

Drive Cage(s): EverCool Armor HD-AR-BK

Power Supply: Allied 250W (soon to be replaced)

SATA Expansion Card(s): N/A

Cables: Generic

Fans: Came with the case

Parity Drive: Western Digital Caviar Black WD2001FASS

Data Drives: 1 x Western Digital Caviar Green WD20EARS; 1 x Western Digital Caviar Green WD10EADS, 1x Western Digital Caviar Green WD5000AADS

Cache Drive: n/a

Total Drive Capacity: 7

Primary Use: Storing movies, tv shows, pictures, music and backups.

Likes: Quiet, web interface does just about everything I need, efficient, unraid user support.

Dislikes: I'm a noob with unraid

Add Ons Used: UnMain, transmission

Future Plans: Upgrade power supply, order sata controller, add more drives, upgrade sata cables to locking cables, clean wiring.

No way to test power draw right now.

I am thinking about upgrading the power supply to a SilenX IXM-40-14 400W. Since the case is currently using a SFX power supply, I am limited on options. I am also going to order some locking sata cables and 2 port sata controller from monoprice. The current motherboard will only boot with 1 stick of ram and I just sent another GF6100-E-E back since it wouldn't post at all.
