November 29, 20205 yr I have a HP Microserver Gen10 running the latest Unraid but I need more network bandwidth. I was looking for something that will work PCIE 4x slot (wired as 1x) so I can keep the 8x slot open for an hba down the road. I will be attempting to do a direct connection from the server to my desktop which is an ITX system which will be running a usbc adpater likely to 5 gigabit until I can find an itx board with faster networking on board in the future. It will need to still be able to use the 1 gigabit ports on both systems to reach the rest of the network for plex ect. While 10 gig will be nice It might be out of my budget so I'm looking for something similar to these two below. My desktop does have USB c and USB A 3.2 gen 2.
