December 5, 20205 yr This has happened twice and I don't know what I am doing wrong Unraid 6.8.3 I was setting up my first Windows 10 VM following Space Invader's, and other guides. I have downloaded a rom for my GTX 960, making sure it is UEFI - all fine. Got the windows rom. Got the latest virtio-win, 1.185. Windows starts setting up, and the main screen loads. I go into device manager, but the gtx 960 graphics card cannot be seen. I only see the windows default display driver. I also am unable to update this like Space invader does - it just says this is the latest driver. I then start updating the drivers for the other 3 unrecognised devices. The first two work fine. The 3rd is not recognised and searching e: as per space invader's video doesnt find a device or driver for it. Following the next steps I load up e: and try to load the qemu-ge-X64 file but it is about now the display goes black and loses the hdmi signal. The file I don't think even loads as I don't see anything like the usual windows install messages- just coincidental timing (maybe). This last time I found the log full. (How do I clear it by the way?) I can't seem to get the log to display either, likely due to size. And I find my Domains share turned orange. An earlier attempt, which I know I got some settings wrong as I didn't get this far, started filling up the log file fast too. The last line had repeated over and over again hundreds of times - so assuming the same thing is happening. Any ideas? December 5, 20205 yr Author Other information; Config: mobo: Asus Z10PA-D8 cpus: Xeon E5-2660 v3 memory: 64GB Samsung ECC graphics: Gigabyte GTX 960 Unraid: 6.8.3 I have made a number of attempts to get a VM up and running, but the furthest I get is as follows: Installation starts, displaying via the graphics card. Windows installs without connections to the net. Once in windows I go to device manager: but although I have the rom (Gigabyte.GTX960.4096.150702.rom) for the graphics card, the card is not listed in device manager. I try updating the microsoft display driver, from the virtio-win-0.1.185.iso but it says latest driver already installed. So the Red Hat QXL won't install. There are then 3 other devices needing drivers - 2 update from virtio-win-0.1.185.iso but the third isn't recognised (says unrecognised device but on Space Invader's video it appears it should be PCI Simple Communications Controller. I then try and install the guest agent. I click on the file, but before the usual windows installing software animations appear the screen goes black. And no matter what I do I am unable to start it back up - always has a black screen. I notice from the logs: Dec 5 15:31:54 Cosmos kernel: vfio_ecap_init: 0000:02:00.0 hiding ecap 0x1e@0x258 Dec 5 15:31:54 Cosmos kernel: vfio_ecap_init: 0000:02:00.0 hiding ecap 0x19@0x900 Dec 5 15:31:54 Cosmos kernel: vfio-pci 0000:02:00.0: BAR 1: can't reserve [mem 0xb0000000-0xbfffffff 64bit pref] Dec 5 15:31:55 Cosmos acpid: input device has been disconnected, fd 5 Dec 5 15:31:58 Cosmos kernel: vfio-pci 0000:02:00.0: BAR 1: can't reserve [mem 0xb0000000-0xbfffffff 64bit pref] Dec 5 15:31:58 Cosmos kernel: vfio-pci 0000:02:00.0: BAR 1: can't reserve [mem 0xb0000000-0xbfffffff 64bit pref] pci 0000:02 I think is my graphics card. Any help appreciated.

August 7, 20214 yr Author Not certain - I was browsing multiple pages and doing lots of searches. On something I read - from memory it wasn't on a board about the same issue - someone had mentioned some success with legacy mode. So I tried it.
