Home Assistant HassIO startup errors after CPU upgrade - RTC issues?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm having a strange issue with one of my Linux VMs.

Its a QCOW2 install of Home Assistant, which has been working without issues for a long time.

My other VMs seem to work fine, mostly Windows 7/10 VMs.

Yesterday, I upgraded my Ryzen CPU to a R9-5950x, and required stable BIOS version, and the issue began after this.

As part of the process the BIOS was reset, and I set everything back to correct before booting Unraid.

Upon starting up, this VM does not start but seems to crash with this error on the screen:

I've checked my unraid logs and can see that this error repeated 3 times:

ntpd[2358]: kernel reports TIME_ERROR: 0x41: Clock Unsynchronized

I've also seen this, which seems to indicate the wrong time zone (I'm in +0100)

kernel: xt_time: kernel timezone is -0000

I checked and my Unraid Timezone is already set correctly:

I've tried testing with a fresh latest version of the QCOW2 file, located on this page.

Direct link to the file is here, via the same page.

Is the Real Time Clock possibly causing the issue?

Any ideas how I can resolve the RTC issue?

So I rebooted and checked the BIOS time, which I apparently cannot edit.

The BIOS System Time is already set exactly 1 hour back, so I assume it is UTC set.

After startup, still see the error:

ntpd[2369]: kernel reports TIME_ERROR: 0x41: Clock Unsynchronized

Checking Unraids NTP server shows:

Linux 4.19.107-Unraid.
