Plex: Guide to Moving Transcoding to RAM
Hey everyone, just thought I'd put this up here after reading a syslog by another forum member and realizing a repeating pattern I've seen here where folks decide to let Plex create temporary files for transcoding on an array or cache device instead of in RAM.

There are typically three reasons for transcoding, the video stream, audio stream and subtitles. In addition, transcoding might be needed due to the bit rate (to high). All above need to be within what the client player can handle so obviously it will be different for different clients.
