  1. I am primarily a Lightroom and Photoshop user but occasionally do some video work too.

I have always ingested my raw media to my unraid server via a cache linked share and worked directly from that share on my workstation. The Mover script would then move it off my cache drive when I was not longer using those files for permanent archiving. My network is only 1000Mbps.

I have noticed things are a bit slow while working lately and I wanted to make some improvements. My thoughts were:

    1. Continue with the same workflow but upgrade to 2.5GBe or 10GBe

    2. Work with my files locally on the workstation and move to the unraid server after

Option 2 will obviously result in the best performance but it also has the potential to cause hassle with library/catalog linking and versioning issues with files.

What are others doing? Is there a good way of syncing files between my workstation and unraid? Ways to increase network performance? Or Adobe software configuration tips?

This 1080P one from monoprice worked really well for me. I couldn't tell any drop in quality or lag. They do offer a 4K version, but its very pricey.

These are actually the ones I was thinking about trying. I've had good success with Monoprice products in the past and trust them over some of the questionable Amazon products.

Yes you are right it is starting to get a bit pricey for the 4K version. Almost to the point where a SFF build alternative starts to look attractive.

  3. Does this currently exist in any form or has someone created a script to do this?

Here is my scenario, there may other scenarios for this as well:

I want to start up my Windows gaming VM. To maximize performance I also want to stop some non-essential VMs and dockers or switch to different docker configs to free up cores and GPU (i.e. Emby/Plex/Jellyfin).

Right now this takes multiple steps. I would love to have a script (or even better a button on my dashboard) to carry out these tasks when I was to start my Gaming VM and when I want to stop it and return to my normal server configuration.

    Thoughts? Suggestions?

  4. Hello everyone,

I'm looking for some feedback from those who have used HDBaseT HDMI extenders with USB over Cat6 ethernet.

My Unraid server is currently located in the basement of my three story home and I am wishing to extend a Windows VM to my home office on the 3rd floor. Currently I am using RDP software to remote into my VM but I am not happy with the performance in Photoshop. I would also be interested in doing some light gaming without using Steam Home Streaming or other gaming streaming software.

Is it reasonable to expect a decent user experience transmitting a 4k 60hz video signal and USB approximately 25m over a cat6 cable? Do these devices introduce lag or any kind over video compression?

  5. Looking for some guidance on a recent issue that has come up. I am no longer able to access the web gui. Docker has been running without issue for quite some time and no settings have been changed. I am not currently using a VPN with this docker.

EDIT: My bad seems to have been a port conflict or something. All good.
