  1. Added a NVIDIA card this weekend.  Followed instruction in Q3 of the support documentation but I do not have the fields NVIDIA_DRIVER_CAPABILITIES and NVIDIA_VISIBLE_DEVICES.  I added the variables manually and set appropriately but Transcoding is not using HW.  Using Unraid 9.2 and have Plex Transcode settings ticked off.  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thank you

  2. I had an issue w/ the constant adopting/disconnect loop.  Maybe the following will help someone else.

I have the unraid box set with a DNS resolvable name in pfsense.  In my case just "tower".  So using ssh from the unifi device I can ping w/ simply "ping tower".  The controller hostname/ip set to the ip used to access unraid.  I know have selected "Override inform host with controller hostname/IP" as suggested by others and should hopefully keep the issue from reoccurring.

Since I am using Windows I used putty to ssh into the device using the ip address assigned by the router (pfsense) and port 22.  The mistake I used here was trying to use the controller ID/PWD instead of what was in the Site/Device Authentication field of the controller.  Of course w/ SSH checked there.  With those credentials login to the device.  Then run the "set-inform http://unraidip:port/inform"

replace unraid ip w/ the address for your unraid box such as 192.168.x.x

replace port with the port number defined in your unraid unifi controller container as "Port used for HTTP portal redirection.:"

the port thing was the next stumbling block for me as I was attempting to use the port of the controller.  I'm not the best w/ these things so hopefully this is clear enough for anyone w/ a similar issue.  Sorry if it is a repost.  Thank  you to everyone providing their assistance.

  3. I'm attempting to utilize the new wireguard setup after a successful openvpn setup.  I use Torguard for my VPN service.  I have wireguard selected and I utilized the tool here https://torguard.net/tgconf.php?action=vpn-openvpnconfig for creating a wireguard config from Torguard.  I entered in my details as requested to generate the config.  I then started and stopped wireguard service and replaced the information in the wg0.conf file w/ my config information.  I verified that the information stays after booting up the container.  I also updated "Extra Parameters" to be "--privileged=true".  The container starts buts that is all I get.  I attached a screenshot of my settings w/ user and pwd temporarily removed.  I would appreciate any assistance.  Thank you in advance.

You seem to have left out some important details in your description. You can't get directly from adding a disk to "unmountable no file system". If you add a disk to a new slot and that disk hasn't been marked as cleared then unRAID is going to clear it for you and then offer to format it. Even if it was mistakenly marked as clear by the failed preclear unRAID would still offer to format it. Maybe if you had taken a closer look you would have noticed that it was telling you to check a box to format the disk when the array was started. Or did you do a New Config to add the disk to the array?

Definitely NOT fine to leave as is. In order to remove the disk from the array you will have to New Config without it and resync parity.

    *EDIT*

Another possibility would be to assign it back to the slot it is missing from and then check the box to format it. Any time you check the box to format make very sure that only the disk you want to format is unmountable. You should definitely do a parity check afterwards since it isn't completely clear what you did to get to this state.

I apologize for the lack of clarity.  I did not see the format option at the time, had my browser a little scrunched.  The option was down at the bottom.  I stopped the array and replaced the drive into the slot I was attempting before.  Once that was done I selected the format option.  After completing the format its added the drive but the orange triangle lists it as "contents emulated".  The parity sync is running now.

    Thanks again for replying.

  5. I attempted running the two most recent ver of the plugin on two new drives and both failed step 5.  Swapped cables with working drives and still failed the same.  I attempted just to add one of the drives to the array due to the above noted issues w/ the plugin for my ver of unraid 6.4.x. I get a "unmountable no file system" error for the disk I had attempted preclear on.  So I removed the drive from the array and put it into unassigned disks.   Should I wait it out for the plugin update or is there a better course of action?  The array says it is missing that disk now but I never wrote to it or ran a parity check with it so it seems like it would be fine to leave as is.

    Thanks

  6. Thank you.  I got better results broadening my search from just my motherboard, to motherboards in general.  The consensus seems to be trying to run the large drive as the primary windows drive then there was issues w/ the MBR being able to partition it properly.  Having SATA and a 64 bit processor (AMD LE-1100) are pretty good indicators that the larger drives are ok.  I ordered a 4TB HGST to come in tomorrow.  I'll load that as the new partition drive and see what happens.  I'll follow up with my results.  Thank you again.

  7. I have an older MB Foxconn A7GM-S AM2.  I don't think it would support a drive size greater than 2TB, but how do you find out for sure.  I found the manual but it doesn't list drive size limits, most likely because it wasn't an issue at the time.

    Thanks in advance.

  8. huh, guess I changed it then late one night troubleshooting something else.  I don't remember changing it or for what reason I would have, but that was the problem.  Thank you

Have you guys enjoyed the change from 5 to 6?

  9. Sorry I wasn't paying attention like i shoulda been and  didn't notice I was in the 6 forums.

I didn't think it would, but it was the only difference I could find in the disk.

In global share I have both included and excluded disks as empty, so that should make all available and none excluded.  The specific user share I'm looking at has included disks as blank, so that should be all disks.  Excluded disk is only disk5.  min free is at the default 0 and split level is at the default 1.

    Thank you

  10. Running 5R16C.  After adding a new disk the global share is not writing to it.  Allocation is "most free" so that new disk should be the default to be written to.  I have one disk excluded and the included disks is empty so should be all.  I did notice the new disk was formatted as "4k aligned" where all of my other disks are unaligned.  I would be grateful for any assistance.

  11. I do have two of them already but thanks for the tip.  The box is outdoors so I liked having a fan blow directly down the drives.  I did some more digging and found a post where a guy had to use some C-clamps on the 910 to bend the metal fins out of the way in the 5.25 bays.  For the price vs a antec 900 I'll put a little elbow grease into it.

  12. Sorry I wasn't too clear on that reply.  That's what I was getting at was whether or not through put was really an issue on PCI bus for unraid if you were not splitting up a file(movie/video/music/document) over multiple drives.  Thanks again.  The cables seem to run about $20 and the card $120, does that sound about right?

  13. I knew I was missing something, thank you.  I've seen in the hardware notes where it recommends only trying to run a single(maybe it was two) drives off a sata pci133mhz slot because it can only handle the throughput of one drive.  Should that matter for unraid, because if your information(in my case movie file) is not split up over multiple drives then you are only firing up one drive at a time so it wouldn't matter if you've got four drives on a sata pci card.  Thanks again for your help.

  14. I've had unraid for some time, but need to expand out.  I've got the Foxconn A7GM-S board and my pci slots are filled so I've got a free x16 and x1 slot.  The SUPERMICRO AOC-SAT2-MV8 64-bit PCI-X133MHz SATA Controller Card seems to be my best choice for the x16 slot, but lots of folks seem to be choosing the SUPERMICRO AOC-SASLP-MV8 PCI Express x4 Low Profile SAS SAS RAID Controller.  The first card would mean I don't need to also purchase cables since they are included unlike the SAS card.  Finally, is $100 a reasonable price or can they be had for significantly cheaper.

  15. Just loaded the drive from the TX4 card after formatting it with Unraid on a mobo connection.  The drive fired up great and allowed me to write a movie to it so should be gravy from here on out.  Thanks everybody for your help.

  16. While this controller is plug and play the first time I tried it with a single Seagate 500gb drive (from a previous RAID 5 array) I could select the drive in the devices tab but it would not finish mounting the drive, after half an hour I just shut it down.  Any helpful hints?  Thanks for your help.

  17. I am currently running server 4.4.2 and could use some advice on setting up split level.  These are folders I have setup on the server, I know the second Media folder is redundant but it was necessary for when i was doing the initial setup and still had other sources for my data.

    Tower/Media/Media/Movies/Genre/*Movie*/_TS folders

    Tower/Media/Media/TV Shows/Show Name/Season/show

    Tower/Media/Media/Children's/*Movie*/_TS folders

    Tower/Media/Media/Children's/*Movie.avi*

The most important is the stuff going into the movies folder, the others I could spoon feed through the individual disk shares.  My initial guess is 3.  Sorry if this is another idiot question.  Thanks for your help.
