Hi all,
I am having an issue that my dockers aren't restarting after a backup runs. Any ideas?

Yup. Nvidia solved it.

Yes, I am on gigabit ethernet.
I had seen the second article already and was hoping to avoid buying another player...I will dig through that first thread too.
Thanks for those!

Hi all,
Not sure this is the proper place to post this - but, last year I bought a 4k TV. I was using a Vero 4k as my client side player. I have since switched to Plex. In both cases 4k content will not play without much buffering. I am using ethernet and have Plex set to play in Original quality.
Since this is a problem on both the Vero and Plex clients I thought maybe it's server hardware that is causing the problem. It's a pretty old build - ASRock Pro4/MVP with a Celeron G1620 @ 2.70, 4 gigs of memory, nine drives seven of which are running off the motherboard, the other two are plugged into a SAS9211-8I.
I am kicking around the idea of buying one of these, if nothing else to move the Plex server onto it natively as well as SAB, Sonarr, Radarr, etc: Newer server
Any idea what is causing the problem?
Thanks!

Hi all,
I just bought a WD Easystore 12tb that I am going to shuck.
Trying to run it through preclear and I got that error.
Here is the preclear log.
Any thoughts.

Assuming it's the correct disk, since you omitted the serial, looks mostly OK, suggest swapping cables with another disk just to rule them out and try rebuilding again, if it fails grab diags before rebooting.
Looks like this may have solved it....fingers-crossed.

I'd recommend checking out the DiskSpeed docker in my sig once you're back up & running. It can help identify drives that are acting suspect but still reporting All Clear on the SMART report. A standard drive benchmark checking every 10% of the drive as a baseline, every 1% if you want to get down to the nitty gritty.

I understand.
Something else has happened and I can't get the server to boot. I am planning on getting a monitor to see what is going on today.

Hi all,
I added a new drive about a month ago and since then I have been having one of my older drives dropping out of the array and throwing errors. I just finished reenabling it and rebuilding and it disabled again during a SMART long test. I was suspecting the drive was ok and maybe a cabling issue when I must have bumped the cable to the new drive.
The original drive is still disabled and now both are saying unmountable.
Next steps?
Thanks!

Hi all,
I have been using UnRAID since 2012 and my current build since 2013. I use it almost exclusively as a media file server that I stream content to a OSMC Kodi box at my TV. I don't use any dockers or VM.
I am thinking about a 4k TV upgrade and am wondering if there are speed improvements that I have to make. I am also just generally wondering about streaming speed. My current system:

Kernel: Linux 4.18.20-unRAID x86_64
OpenSSL: 1.1.1a
Drives in array 5 - 8TB ST8000
Parity 8TB ST8000
My array is almost full so I am going to be adding a drive soon, so wanted to check if this build is sufficient for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for the tip.
I think you are right, as the problems did intensify when I added a new drive a few months ago and it was formatted with ReiserFS instead of XFS.
I stupidly went guns-a-blazing without reading proper procedure on changing file systems and lost a bunch of data. Others, learn from my mistake! -
Hi all,
This has started to happen about once a week. I can't think what changed to cause this. I do there is a suspicious drive that has a reallocated sector count. This has been there since soon after I installed the drive. The unresponsiveness has started more recently.

You mean this file, right?
The extended test completed without errors, of course.

I recently got finished rebuilding my server with some 8TB archive drives. Since then I have done a few parity checks and it's having errors. Also, just check the log and saw read errors on disk 5. Do I have a bad disk already?

It happened again and I captured the syslog too.

Thanks for the reply -

3. The only plugins I have are Powerdown and Open Files - don't use any dockers.
4. I generally lose the shares access too.

Yeah, looks to be the Plex server - there is a lot of metadata and images that are taking a lot of time.
Thanks for helping me to work it out - I will set it to start earlier in the morning.
