  1. I am running Unraid 6.12.8 in an HP Tower with an

    Intel® Xeon® CPU E3-1270 v3 @ 3.50GHz CPU

The only thing the server is really running is the Plex docker with content on 8TB mirrorred data array.

The CPU is randomly spiking on all 8 threads to max capacity.

I am wondering if the capacity of the CPU is enough to run this set-up and would very much appreciate some insight.

  2. I have the same issue but no access to a keyboard and monitor to plug into my server.

One moment everything was working and now I get the message unable to connect.

I am at a loss. I have reset the router to factory settings I have looked at the firewall and proxy settings on my linux machine that I am trying to connect to the unraid machine with.

Is it possible that a security setting has been enabled or disabled that I am not aware of?

I have been running Plex for several years now (since Media Browser switched over to Emby.  2017?).  I have only needed to delete codecs a few times.  A couple when my Plex server was running on a Windows machine, maybe once on Unraid.  So it is not (and shouldn't be) something that happens frequently - If it is, I would check for some other underlying issue.  But it is something that can be difficult and frustrating to troubleshoot if you aren't aware of the possibility.

I found out about this from mining the Plex forums years ago (back before they changed their forum style).  From what I have seen in the Plex forum, and the number of responses I've had here in the Unraid forum, it has been the solution for quite a few people to solve their transcoding/playback issues.

Where do I delete codecs as I have no idea. Older mkv H264 files play fine only the recently added ones will not playback

  4. I have changed address and isp.

The new router has a different ip address from when I set up my unraid server.

When I try to connect to the docker like I used to in the old situation by just typing the ip address. Now when I type in the ip address that the computer where the server is installed on I cannot connect to it.

When I go to my dashboard in Myunraid.net I get a 'no server connected' message (see screenshot attached)

The flashdrive from which that computer boots  Unraid up is inserted and seems to be working.

    What am I not seeing/missing?

Why does it points me to download connect?

I can't find where to even download connect from as it is nowhere to be found in the community apps. (would be very handy if in those instructions a link was inserted that leads to the right place)

In short, HELP, I would like to be able to access my Unraid server again.

  5. Newbie question here.

How does Krusader work to transfer files from my Linux mint Cinnamon Vera to my unraid server? Or doesn't it work for that? I can't see my laptop when opening Krusader on the docker in unraid.

Also, is Krusader only for text files? I am trying to transfer my entire media library from my linux mint Cinnamon Vera to the Unraid server and get random time-out errors. None on the Unraid help forum seems to be able to give me any solution for this and the general consensus seems to be that krusader is the app to use for file transer. However, I cannot find a clear, in laymans terms how to use Krusader tutorial in the support of Krusader.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Even if it is a link to watching a lengthy Youtube video (not my favourite thing to do but if it is the only way to learn how to use Krusader, needs must)

File transfer on laptop running linux mint cinnamon 21.1 is instant. Suggesting it is indeed the linux pc running linux 19 causing the issue.

after fresh install Linux 21 Cinnamon Vera on PC the connection to my unraid server still has the same time-out error it randonly had before under Linux 19. I am at a loss. What can be causing this? There is nothing in the logs that shows anything untowards. Is there something simple I am missing?

Not seeing anything relevant logged, suggesting the problem might no be on the Unraid side, do you have another client you could test with, like a Windows desktop or laptop?

  8. Being fairly new to both linux and Unraid I am not sure which system it is I need to be looking at to find what causes the error.

As I said in the tag line. I have currently a number of files in folders on my pc that runs on Linux 19 (will upgrade soon to 21)

The PC is part of my network which runs on Unraid (screenshot attached)

I am in the process of putting my DVD collection on my server to be able to watch anything anywhere using Plex. However, I do this on the PC and then have to transfer the files to the samba share. Randomly it will error during the transfer and as of yet I have not been able to determine what exactly causes the time-out.

The strange thing is if I try the same file transfer again it sometimes times out again or it might go uninterrupted.

Being new to both systems I have found that it is possible that the system has an SMB value of smb1 and I could up that to SMB3 but the command that I have found that should enable me to change the smb.conf file gives a command not found in my terminal

Any help (in layman's terms) would be greatly appreciated.

I do want to very much learn the right way to do things and have my system run smoothly

You should figure out what is creating the files with incorrect permissions or it will happen again.

Have tried to find the cause but as of yet unable to and no new file permission issues have risen yet.

I do have another issue, which I probably caused myself when setting up plex on unraid. I accidentally created a transcode folder within the transcode folder. I cannot figure out how to get rid of it. All the topics with this same or similar issue give a solution that is utterly incomprehensible to me

If you click the docker icon “Support” should be one of the options. This will take you to the proper support thread for whichever Plex docker you have installed.

Unfortunately there is nothing in that plex support forum that gets me beyond the problem.

I now managed to get it running but instead of recognising that I have the Plex-Media Server installed on Unraid when I open the Web ui now the plex app asks for me to bwe able to add my media I need to download a plex media server. Which I obviously have just done and successfully set up according to the message I got after finishing the install.

    EDITED

Ok i had multiple issues sorting this, most relating to firewall rules causing confusion.  I also went on a circle edditing prefrences.xml, which i had to use krusader to change permissions so i could edit in windows.  I dont think this was needed so just use the below instructions.

    ---------------------------------------------

Log into Plex.tv. Then go to https://www.plex.tv/claim/. You get a code that is valid for 4 minutes, if you need more time than 4 minutes, just reload the page and use the new code. Leave this window open.

Enter the following within unraid terminal (click icon on the main page)
    curl -X POST 'http://127.0.0.1:32400/myplex/claim?token=CLAIM_CODE_HERE'

If your Claim Code is claim-TxXXA3SYXX55XcXXjQt6, you enter the following in terminal/command prompt:
    curl -X POST 'http://127.0.0.1:32400/myplex/claim?token=claim-TxXXA3SYXX55XcXXjQt6'

Wait a little bit after entering, after 10 seconds or so you will see stuff appear on your screen. That's it, after this step you should see your Server visible again in Plex (just open it as you usually would, or via https://app.plex.tv/).

    -------------------------------------------

Use terminal within unraid (little icon main page).  5minute fix at most :)

First question I have installed plex using the apps tab in Unraid. Got the claim code from plex and it seems to all be fine as this is how it shows up on the docker

However, when I open plex using the WEBUI I get my norml user choice screen but when I log in as me I somehow get Shield Android TV as my server. This has an error as it is unavailable.

I was under the impression that when I set up the plex media server using the official docker from Unraid apps pointing the paths to where the files are stored and claim my server with the code from plex it should work?

I cannot find where to enable SSH. Where is that control panel mentioned in the instructions above?

When I use the commands in the linux mint cinnamon terminal (my system runs on linux mint cinnamon) it isn't a valid command.

Unfortunately I am an absolute beginner and have not even the basic knowledge so will need basic dummie step by step instructions to get my plex on unraid working.

All help will be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

  12. I have installed the official Plex Media Server app in Unraid, using the apps tab.

It shows up in dockers and has started.

However, when I open the webapp the server does not show up and I cannot link the webapp to the server so have no access to all my content that is on my server.

I am running a NAS network on Linux Mint Cinnamon using Unraid.

My content is on .local/sambashare in folders split in TV, Movies, Music, Photos, Downloads

    Host path 2:

    Container path:  /tower.local

    Host path: /appdata on tower.local/Plex-Media-Server/transcode

I have set the host path 3 to:

    container path: /media/sambashare

    host path: /mnt/user

What am I missing and why can't I link the wepapp to the server?
