  1. I'd like to request a new option for a share cache option. Currently there is 'Yes', 'No', 'Preferred', and 'Only'. I'd like to request a new 'Cache w/ Backup' option or similar where the files are kept on the specified cache pool, but the mover will create a backup of the files on the array where specified. The idea would be for an automated backup of the system / appdata shares within UnRaid itself without the need for any plugins but have it occur just within UnRaid itself as part of the mover operations.

  2. Update: I have my issues resolved. I have been in the process of upgrading components. One of which is my server chassis. I just got the last of the new hardware today and got everything setup and in the new chassis. With the new hardware for the server, everything is now running perfectly smoothly.

So now I'm wondering if it had something to do with my old hardware. I was running a Celeron G530 with 4GB ram on an Asus P8H67-M PRO mobo. Perhaps the newer linux kernel, or something with the network drivers didn't like the older chipset. I did run wireshark with the old hardware and I was noticing a number of retransmits from the server. Nearest I could tell, the client seemed slow to send ACKs for some periods, then the server would send a retransmit. So no real explanation, but new server hardware fixed it for me.

  3. I'm looking for some help trying to figure out a streaming issue with Kodi after upgrading my unRaid server to 6.0.1. After the upgrade, I end up with constant buffering issues anytime I attempt to play anything on Kodi. I've even tried streaming to Plex as well and I see a similar problem. The audio and video queues go to 0, then it buffers for a while and starts playing again, then a few seconds later the queues go back to 0 and starts buffering again.

I've tried everything I can on the kodi side. I've tried doing CIFS, NFS, and SMB mounts and all behave the same way. I've added buffering with 100MB in the kodi advancedsettings.xml file, and that does nothing to address the issue. When just copying files from the unRaid server to my htpc an pull files down around 40MB a second. I've tried different network cables and nothing seems to help. I've tried both Kodi 14.2 and 15.0.

Just to test, I loaded the backup of unRaid 5.0.5 back onto the server, and now I am able to stream just fine. It seems to be an issue only with this client. I've tested unRaid 6.0.1 streaming to other machines and they work fine. But for some reason, this particular combination is causing problems.

Here is a brief snippet of what I see from the kodi log file (full link below).
