There is a link given as part of step 8 to the post where you can get the script.

Thanks. I did that - and I thought that the script has been installed - but the script is not shown in the /boot/config/plugins/user.scripts directory.

Could it have been installed to another directory? How do I check please? I try to do a whereis command but I couldnt find the script on the nas.

  2. Hi,

I am currently running an a 10 disk setup comprising some 3TB and 4TB disks. I am using Unraid v6.8.3 at the moment. I wanted to remove an existing old 2TB drive from the array and I have tried to follow the wiki page to shrink the array. I can follow up to step 7.

Shrink array - Unraid | Docs

In step 8 - it says to run the "clear an array drive" script from the user script plugin. I have installed the user script plugin but i cant locate this particular "Clear an array drive" script on unraid and It is not shown in the directory /boot/config/plugins/user.scripts.

How do I install this script?

    Thanks

  3. Hi, I am not sure what happened but recently I find that all my VMs are getting the wrong IP address from another domain. My home network is 192.168.1.XX (DHCP server is my router = 192.168.1.1). But the VMs are getting address range like 192.168.122.XX sometimes 192.168.128.XX.

In network Settings -> routing table I have these:

    IPV4    default    192.168.1.1 via br0

    IPV4    192.168.1.0/24    br0

    IPV4    192.168.122.0/24    virbr0

I think the virbr0 could be the problem but when i click the delete icon, it just won't let me.

    Could someone please kindly assist.

Edit: added the network settings screenshots.

    Thanks

Since you have iommu disabled, it will not help to buy a new card. You need iommu enabled to pass through PCI cards.

Did you install the drivers for your device in the VM?

Thanks for reply. I could not have IOMMU enabled. I think it is the limitation of my current hardware. I have a Asrock H81M-HDS motherboard with a Celeron G1840.

    HVM says Enabled however.

Any way I can get USB passthrough or is it a dead end on this hardware.

  5. Hi, I am trying to passthrough a USB device via VM but could not get anything to work.

This is what I see if I run lsusb

    lsusb
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 0781:5567 SanDisk Corp. Cruzer Blade
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0764:0501 Cyber Power System, Inc. CP1500 AVR UPS
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 8087:8000 Intel Corp.
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 011: ID 1852:7022 GYROCOM C&C Co., LTD
Bus 001 Device 010: ID 1a40:0101 Terminus Technology Inc. Hub
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 8087:8008 Intel Corp.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

I understand the unraid flash drive is in Bus 002. I am trying to passthrough the port containing the "Gyrocom" device which is Bus 001.

My IOMMU settings in Info tab shows "disabled".

The VM in unraid can "see" the usb device that i want to passthrough but although it can see it, the usb device is not functional.

Question is am I able to passthrough a usb port if I buy an external PCI usb card? If so, which chipset should I go for maximum compatibility.

    Thanks

On the Settings -> Network Settings page of the GUI there is a section close to the bottom titled Network Rules. It allows you to specify which NIC maps to which eth by means of its MAC address. So you could set your Intel NIC to eth0 and the Realtek one to eth1.

Thanks John. This works like a charm! Cheers for this.

  7. I have now completed the unraid box and would like to ask the following:

    1. The onboard NIC is a Realtek. I have a leftover Intel NIC from my HP Microservers. Is it worthwhile to use this intel card as the primary ethernet? I was of the understanding that the intel chipset is favored over the Realtek ones.

    2. If I unplug the network cable to the onboard nic and plug into the intel nic, unraid's ethernet connection is down. I cant ping it or access it. It looks like Unraid will only want to use Eth0. I confirm that unraid detected both nic because Eth1 is listed in Unraid tools/settings section.

    Some help please? Thanks.

Not sure .... assuming you only have one license, go to existing unRaid server Tools -> About -> Registration and see what date it says that license was registered.

i am assuming that shows when that license was registered with that USB device rather than when it was first purchased.

Thanks buddy. Tom has advised that I need to get a new USB drive, sent him the GUID and he will do the transfer of the license. Apparently I have swapped out the license less than a year ago.

So the question is, how long ago did you move the license key from the cruzer fit USB drive that you are having problem with?    If it is less than a year then you will not be able to automatically transfer the license to the new USB drive and will have to contact support instead for help getting a new license key for the new USB drive for the last step.

Wow. thanks for that concise response. I have a very idea of what i need to do thanks to you.

I can't remember how long I moved the license. Is there a way to check?

  10. So after a long wait for the Dell H310 card to arrive and to flash to IT mode, I am now ready to migrate my current HP microserver to the new box. Currently my unraid is v6.4.1 and is on a sandisk cruzer so this kinda stick out of the casing. I want to move the license to a small unraid cruzer fit so I proceed to download unraid usb creator and since i am on the roll, i might as well install the latest v6.5.

But unraid creator says this cruzer fit usb drive is GUID blacklisted. I tried to format the drive but no avail.

    Could someone please kindly assist.

I am on Unraid Server Plus.

    Thanks

  11. Hi again,

I am repurposing my HTPC to become a NAS box, replacing 2 of my HP microserver. The spec is:

    1. Asrock H81M HDS R2.0

    2. 16GB DDR3

    3. Celeron G1840

    4. "incoming" HBA card - I bought the Dell H310.

I have setup VT-X on the motherboard bios.

All I wanted to do is to run a VM which runs Daphile RT (essentially a music server which allows me to connect via USB to my USB DAC). I have Daphile installed in the VM yesterday but it cannot see the USB devices.

Am I out of luck with this hardware?

What do I need? It is such a waste for me to dispose of hardware which still works (i.e. my mobo, cpu and ram). Any options?

    Thanks

  12. Ok. now tried a few things and finally swapped the Asmedia card with the intel nic card on the nas box (originally i have the asmedia card plugged into the PCIE2.0x16 slot) and plug this asmedia card into a dedicated PCIE2.0x1 slot. Boot unraid and unraid see the drives. if I put the asmedia card back into the PCIE2.0x16 slot it is not working.

So I guess I can consider this mystery solved for now. - asmedia card will need to be in its own PCIE 2.0x1 slot.

Will be running the box this way until the HBA card I ordered arrived.

Thanks Benson and Johnnie for your input.

Does BIOS CSM enable and in AHCI section see the attach drive ?

Yes. It sees the drive. Unraid doesn't.

Asmedia still works with unRAID, either the controller is not being detected or you have another problem, diags might show the problem.

I am going to install this card on another PC, run the trial version of unraid and see. I will report back.

  14. Hi, so I have ordered a HBA card and now waiting for it to arrive. In the meantime I am making do with using the Sata cards that I have leftover from my HP Microserver (also running unraid).

This sata card is a 2 port Astrotek CPE6A Asmedia 1061. I have been running this perfectly fine on the N54L. But on this new server box I am assembling, Unraid 6 does not see the drives connected to this card.

What can I do to make unraid 6 to see the drives again?

    Thanks

    Yes

They are very similar, 9201 is IT mode only.

Any LSI with a SAS2008/2308/3008 chipset in IT mode, e.g., 9201-8i, 9211-8i, 9207-8i, 9300-8i, etc and clones, like the Dell H200/H310 and IBM M1015, these latter ones need to be crossflashed.

Thanks again Johnnie. U are always the first one to the rescue :)

When you replied "yes", just want to confirm that 9211-i support drive spin down AND and 8TB drives; i.e. inclusively. Is this correct?

Which would you go for, assuming the 9201-8i and 9211-i are both priced about the same?
