  1. Do yourself a favour and use the Community Applications Plugins: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=40262.0

Makes unRaid Docker Life a breeze, instead of messing around with template repos.

Thanks a lot! Installed a docker from Community Application Plugins and soon after was able to configure it properly.

Could be an offtopic in this thread: is there a playlist capability in daapd docker? Will I be able to use playlists from my original iTunes library or at least see something like "recently added songs"?

  2. You find the forked-daapd.conf inside the config folder.

If it is empty the path in the docker config might be wrong or it is a permission problem. For example when you created the folder via terminal as user root and user nobody which runs the docker cant wright to that folder. Also the UID and GID looks messed up in the log. You should start from scratch and add the Container using Community Applications Plugin.

    Thanks darkside40!

I wanted to install this docker by locating it in linuxserver.io templates, but it is not there and I'm using this repository: https://github.com/linuxserver/docker-templates

I got UID and GID by using  id -u and id -g commands for the root user. I used root credentials to create those folders.

  3. Hi!

I created a docker using the following command in CLI (is there a way to create it using the template?):

    docker create --name=daapd -v /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro -v /mnt/cache/docker/apps/daapd/config -v /mnt/user/iTunes -e PGID=0 -e PUID=0 --net=host lsiodev/daapd

    My log looks like this:

    1) I don't seem to be able to find where forked-daapd.conf is, so that I could turn off ipv6

    2) When I open Apple remote on my phone nothing is appearing in the log

    3) I created /mnt/cache/docker/apps/daapd/ folder myself, but it is empty and nothing is appearing there either

    4) On my desktop PC, in iTunes, LS.IO Music showed up and I can select it but it says: "LS.IO Music" has no music.

What I'm trying to achieve is I would like to store my iTunes library on unRAID and be able to use either iPhone and Remote App or Apple TV to playback music from my library. My desktop has syncthing running which synchronizes iTunes folders between PC and unRAID.

I would appreciate any help regarding the setup and configuration.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Sorry for maybe a dumb question, but how are you guys connecting to VMs, especially those that are supposed to be for gaming purposes? VNC, RDP, long HDMI cables? I approached an an article about gaming on Unraid and couldn't find how it was connected and tested.

    That might help you.

Yep, that's where I got here from. I should have asked a question on how to connect multiple displays to a single unraid. I'm thinking of installing elec and connecting 2 TVs to unraid by using long HDMI cables. Was wondering if I could use videocard's outputs for separate VMs or if I have to use a dedicated videocard for each VM.

  6. Using a wireless bridge is just one of the options. I don't see why AC Wi-Fi cannot be used for streaming without utilizing other network devices. So my questions are still the same. Are there drivers in Unraid that will allow me to use PCI-ex Wi-Fi adapters? How to configure Wi-Fi network on Unraid?

  7. Let me try to revive this topic.

I'm currently using CAT5E running between my unraid server and my network switch. Since, I'm going to upgrade my Wi-Fi infrastructure by getting the latest AC router, I was wondering if I can use a PCI-ex Wi-Fi adapter such as the one recommended in the previous post:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320173

It's not that I'm trying to substitute my wired connection, I'm only interested in benchmarking and finding out if it would be feasible to utilize AC standard for heavy media files (like 50-60Mbit/s ones).

I'm mostly concerned about slackware support of aforementioned adapter as well as other similar ones.

  8. Thanks for your replies!

Can anyone shed some light on using i5 2500 for my anticipated tasks? Do you guys do torrenting directly on unRAID? Should I spend more money and get better and newer CPU? Besides running 1 VM, I will be using LogitechMS and Plex dockers.

Also, since I don't have 2 licenses for a PRO version, I believe the only method to move all data to a new server is to use the dock station? I'm thinking of buying 2 5TB HDDs (currently my parity drive is 5TB) to start with 1 Parity and 1 Data drive and move all my media disk by disk.

Do you know of any better solution?

  9. Good day everyone!

First of all I'm very pleased being a part of unRAID community for over 4 years now. Been very happy with my unRAID Pro server ever since I installed it.

Ok, while having virtually no issues with the box, I still decided to update my V5 server to the latest build and revamp my hardware too.

My current setup consists of disks of different capacities totaling 34TB+5TB parity. It's all running on PC with the specs in my signature. I also have a motherboard left from my previous rig (ASUS Sabertooth Z77) which I would like to use in my current server chassis. I'm thinking of buying i5-2500 and 16GB of RAM to complete the build and use my older 1420SA HBAs to connect the drives, besides using all 10 SATA connectors on the board.

I would appreciate if you guys could answer the following questions in regards to my endeavors:

    1) Will the hardware specs be sufficient of transcoding 2-3 Plex streams while using Transmission or any other torrent app simultaneously?

    2) Can I run Win7 in KVM virtual machine to use it for occasional media sorting, renaming, remuxing, moving to an array? Will my specs provide an adequate performance for this mentioned VM, while not impacting Plex or general access via SMB? I'm thinking of dedicating an HDD outside of array to use it for Win7+torrenting

    3) What would be the correct upgrade path? I'm assuming I can follow this steps: Unplug all data drives from my old server -> replace the hardware -> install unRAID6 on my existing flash drive, while preserving the license key -> add 1st HDD to use for my VM needs and add SSD cache drive -> install VM, test if everything works -> connect all drives, including parity and let the unRAID to build the config

    4) Since V6 uses brtfs, should I think of somehow moving all my data somewhere else, reformat all drives and then copy the entire library back?

    5) Should I replace my 1430SA's? Are they supported in V6? Is it a bad idea to utilize all on-board SATA connectors or it's better to get an HBA card with bunch of ports?

    Thanks in advance.
