I'm facing the same issue. The above did not help

[PLEX causing high cpu usage (70 - 80%) when idle]

Just wanted to give an update as well since I was running into a similar issue.

 

My CPU load was spiking from 5% to 80%

The issue was in Plex with the Intro detection / Credits detection for my TV shows. I modified my library to disable this and within seconds the CPU went to a negligble 1%-5%
