  1. If you were to build this today what would you change? I built me a 14900k with 128gb ddr 5 ecc 5400 mhz on a ASUS w680 ace impi but it’s leaving me lacking for the ability to add u.2 ssds. I’m finding u.2 ssds are about half the price of m.2, can endure x10 more, and have PLP. My other option would be to shell big on a bifurcating pcie card. Thoughts? Running about 20 mechanical hdds, a couple of 8tb Samsung qvos, and have a handful of u.2 drives id like to use and move away from sata and m.2 drives.

  2. Looking to have 20 hard drives, a couple sata ssds, and a possibly up to four u.2 or u.3 drives. I have a supermicro 20 bay server with dual xeons running now and I hate how loud it is. I also have two TS440s but they don't hold enough drives for what I want to do. Recommendations? Considered a meshify 2 XL but the thought of loosing the drive hot swap drive cadies for easily locating failing drives seems to be a nightmare. I do have a unused lenovo SA120 I might could use to augment a small chassis too. Also, what HBA card is recommended. 9200 series is so old and I understand the 9300 series are power hungry. Would something like this be more modern and able to handle my needs? SAS3224-24I ?

  3. Have you completed this build yet? I am in a similar situation. Not sure if I want to use a 14600k 14700k or 14900k. Would likely undervolted. I was going to go with a 14500 but saw they actually are using more power than the 14600k due to voltage settings. I think the 14500 is based on the 12th gen die. Looking at a w680 ace mobo and 64gb ddr5 ECC to start.

    Great write up!
I just got the MB but with a Bios: v. 3101
And I cant find a way to set the (1-2) AI Tweaker > Efficiency Core Ratio: By Core Usage and for all E-Core apply 36
Anymore instead I have this, and its not possible to input 36
    image.thumb.png.3b54f83e4531394e7cb76f303d5d86ed.png

IMPORTANT: I just installed the GIGABYTE - AORUS Gen4 AIC Adaptor, PCIe 4.0 GC-4XM2G4 in the 8x bifurcation slot and it dosent work on this MB, no matter what I do, even setting it to 16x and removing all card it only sees 1 Nvme 😞
IF ANYONE HERE have a Nvme expansion card that works on this Motherboard then please write me! 🙂

did you get the nvme expander card to work?

Did you find a way to make the NVME expansion card work? Very interested.

Don't know what to you.  The board has a Realtek RTL8125 2.5gb port, and seeing the note about 2.5gb ports causing issues in the changelog for the latest unRAID update I installed the recommended drivers and haven't had issues yet.  Currently at just under 17 days of uptime.

But your original post clearly indicated it was a hang on a intel e1000e. I started having the same issue a few years back and ethtool -K eth0 tso off seems to have fixed it. Very curious to understand more what happened here.

    For what it's worth, running

     ethtool -K eth0 tso off

made the problem go away for me. I don't know what I'm giving up in terms for performance but it was a good enough temporary workaround to get all my files copied over.

I did not have any of your additional issues with terminal, etc, just a momentary hitch that was long enough to interrupt file copies but not long enough to make ssh drop.

Thank you immensely to the @smeehrrr for sharing this crucial workaround. For several years, I've been grappling with persistent network issues on my Unraid server, pushing me to the brink of frustration. Implementing the suggested command has finally brought relief. This problem began around 2018-2019, and my system had been functioning smoothly prior to that. The resolution provided here has been a game changer, and I'm deeply grateful for the shared knowledge and support.

I'm curious about the underlying mechanics of this fix. Is there a more permanent solution that can be implemented? I'm keen to understand why this particular command was effective, especially considering the issue's persistence from 2018-2019 to the present day (Unraid Version: 6.12.6).

Here are some specifics of my setup for context:

    Server Model: LENOVO ThinkServer TS440

BIOS Version: FBKTDIAUS (Dated: Thu 16 Sep 2021)

    Processor: Intel® Xeon® CPU E3-1275L v3 @ 2.70GHz

Any additional insights or suggestions for a long-term resolution would be greatly appreciated!

  8. Update: Guess it was a permission issue that Unraid 'permission tool' couldn't fix.

    Issued these commands via PuTTy

    This fixed Plex:

    Stopper Docker

    ls -la /mnt/user/appdata/PlexMediaServer

    (View permissions before)

    sudo chmod -R 777 /mnt/user/appdata/PlexMediaServer/

(Wait a couple mins then check with)

    ls -la /mnt/user/appdata/PlexMediaServer

    (view permissions after)

Start Docker & Wait a couple mins before attempting to access Plex (does some sort of cleanup routine)

    This fixed Tautulli:

    ls -la /mnt/user/appdata/tautulli

    (View permissions before)

    sudo chmod -R 777 /mnt/user/appdata/tautulli

(Wait a moment then check with)

    ls -la /mnt/user/appdata/tautulli

    (view permissions after)

    Start Docker

Deleted Plex Docker and reset up fixed the issue for me.

Has anyone found a way other than to delete and re-install? I was running fine then updated to 6.10.3 then the plex docker stopped working. I have tried running the permissions tool with no luck.

  10. I read most every page of this post but can seem to find anyone who addresses a solution with pre-clearing then rebuilding. One of my data disk, 8TB V2 Seagate was disabled by unraid because of 'read errors' but then the drive passed both short and long SMART test, how do we re-enable the drive without pre-clearing and rebuilding? I am thinking it was just a loose connection in the hot-swap bay.
