Did you setup sophos correctly? By default it doesn’t respond to pings and doesn’t allow any traffic at all.

also set your gateway as the sophos device

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes I set the gateway as the sophos but did not work or able to log in to the web interface at https://172.

Only way I can get it to work was set up a vpn access on sophos and then use then client on my laptop. It must be possible to do without the vpn client?

  2. Hi, I've installed sophos xg as a VM and its up and running. My lan is on 1 92. address and sophos is on 172.

How do I get my Win 10 VM as well as my laptop Win 10 to use sophos by default? I cannot ping 172 from the Win 10 VM or my laptop. I have also tried changing the network adaptor to use 172 as the dns server but again unable to ping it or connect via the browser.

My HP server unraid box has a built in network card and main one for Ethernet and then I have an additional dual nic added which are both used by sophos.

    Thanks Paul

  3. Hi, I have my VM sophos on 172. range. On my VM Win10 I added 172. as a second IP static address and everything goes through the firewall.

My unraid server is on 192.168.0.xx range and my main laptop is on 192.168.60.xx (google mesh). I cannot access 172 sophos or the VM Win 10 on my laptop unless I install the Sophos SSL vpn.

Do I need to setup a single dhcp server or is there a better way to access Sophos than the vpn?

    Thanks

Is it perhaps a HP server? In that case use the HP patched bzimage

Thanks. Yes it is a HP Z600.

I replaced the bzimage with the 6.7.2 one. Rebooted and still getting this error:

    Execution error

internal error: qemu unexpectedly closed the monitor: 2019-08-16T19:29:11.942433Z qemu-system-x86_64: -device vfio-pci,host=03:00.0,id=hostdev0,bus=pci.0,addr=0x6: vfio 0000:03:00.0: failed to setup container for group 14: failed to set iommu for container: Operation not permitted

  5. I've added a dual intel nic to unraid so I can play about pfsense VM. I've split the iommu group using vfio-pci.ids=8086:105e

but when I start up the VM getting this error:

internal error: qemu unexpectedly closed the monitor: 2019-08-16T17:30:46.702102Z qemu-system-x86_64: -device vfio-pci,host=03:00.0,id=hostdev0,bus=pci.0,addr=0x6: vfio 0000:03:00.0: failed to setup container for group 14: failed to set iommu for container: Operation not permitted

Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong? Thanks

  6. Hi, Just wanted to know what, if any, people are using as a firewall.

I was going to with pfsense but cannot get unraid to work with the additional intel dual nic I installed.

Any there any firewalls that will work with just one nic card or do you need a minimum of 2?

    Thanks

  7. Played about with the settings and managed to get the network card and the additional dual nic to appear when you click on unraid information panel but when you select it in the VM, I still get the same error.

    Anything else I can try?

  8. Hi, I added an extra dual nic card. Followed the youtube video on adding append vfio-pci.ids=8086:105e initrd=/bzroot to the flash drive.

Created a sophos firewall VM and ticked following devices to use.

    Other PCI Devices:

Intel 82571EB/82571GB Gigabit Ethernet Controller D0/D1 (copper applications) | Ethernet controller (28:00.0)
Intel 82571EB/82571GB Gigabit Ethernet Controller D0/D1 (copper applications) | Ethernet controller (28:00.1)

Try to start the VM and getting this error:

internal error: qemu unexpectedly closed the monitor: 2019-08-11T09:37:28.149444Z qemu-system-x86_64: -device vfio-pci,host=28:00.0,id=hostdev0,bus=pci.0,addr=0x5: vfio 0000:28:00.0: failed to setup container for group 15: failed to set iommu for container: Operation not permitted

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks
