  1. well, i had an solution for this, and just wanted to share.

In the end I've found that my unraid had messed up permissions after leaving an windows AD.

I removed all ACL's with this command... (saw it on another topic)

    setfacl -Rb /mnt/user/*

and than using the unraid "New Permissions" feature to get the permissions right again.

    thanks.

  2. Hello,

    i have a unraid server on my network, 3 mac's (10.9.5/10.7.5/10.15.x) and 5 pc's with windows 10 pro.

I've copied all files from several sources to unraid, run the fix folder permissions to zero perms, and then started creating users and shares.

I can login to shares on all pc's and mac's. The problem is that all the folders/files I create in mac's are not accessible to pc users.

I can see the share in windows, i can see the folders and files the mac users create, but cant read/write those folders/files.

In windows to windows folders/files I can read/write. In windows to mac folders/files they can read/write. But in mac to windows folders/files the windows users cant read/read write.

What I'm doing wrong? Any help?

    thanks.

  3. Hello,

first time using cache drives on unraid.

I have 2x 240Gb SSD's, and I thought using them on Unraid would get a 480 cache pool. Instead I just get a 240Gb space usage, and cant understand whats the logic of using the second disk.

Is just for a redundancy case, if the first ssd fails the second takes place?

    thanks.

  4. This could be useful. I'm using native unraid server and users (no connection to any windows AD) in several costumers with different departments and this is an problem for me.

Example, a account dep, with a ACCOUNT share, with boss and staff folders, all in the same share. Right now I have to create 2 different shares...

    Could be useful...

You can try disabling SSL and if it works then try re-enabling, edit config/ident.cfg on the flash drive and change USE_SSL from "yes" to "no", then reboot.

Hello, disabling ssl works and I can login.

    I've found this on logs:

  6. Hello Frank, thanks for your help.

I did a google on  unraid.net  " firefox: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER"  and got only two hits.  You might want to do the same and see if anything in the 'solutions' might help with your problem.  (I have never heard of this issue with Unraid before.)

If these did not fix the problem, please get a screen capture of the entire Error message and post it up with your next post.

    Chrome: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1bnul0njz6yxh2e/chrome.png?dl=0

When I press the Ignore and continue, it does nothing...

Get a screen capture of the output of the command    winver    (With Win10, you type this in the search box on the bottom toolbar of the desktop.)

Did you have your server setup with a certificate to use https?

I think I just activated ssl/tls and it installed himself a self signed ssl

Can you access the GUI from any other device or computer?

Yes, from a laptop with Linux Mint 19.2 and Firefox 69

What is the URL entry that you are using (either the one you type or the URL entry in the shortcut/bookmark)  and what appears on the URL address bar

    where the error message appears?

Tried with direct IP and vault101.local. Both addresses go to same pages.

  7. Hello,

feeling kind of dummy but after a format of my windows machine I cant access my unraid server via browsers (firefox or chrome).

I can enter the shared folders on unraid via network, but when I try to enter via browser I get several unsafe certificate messages:

    firefox: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER

    chrome: NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID

and there's no option to add any kind of exception and if i press continue it loops. This is a fresh machine, i´ve tried even with anti virus disabled.

    Any help?

I can, every server has a twin for backup, for hardware they are mostly based on the Supermicro X9SCL/SCM motherboard

    twin for backup?

why supermicro motherboards, is it because working 24/7?

  9. oh, nice. that was one of my questions also.

Now, imagine that I want to have a maximum 12 hdd + 2 cache + 2 parity, so 16 disks in one case. Do you recomend any case for this?

I have seen some cases but they have 8 to 10 3'5 slots at max. Then I saw some hdd enclosures like chenbro, but still confused.

Do you have some unraid machines and the hw that you used?

  10. Olá! I started just like that. Had a Qnap Nas, heard about unraid, and got an old pc to play with. It was easy to setup, and with spaceinvader's videos, I´ve installed some tools to "upgrade" my unraid.

Now I have a costumer with a simple pc with unraid, and i'm looking for hardware to build a more professional unraid server. That´s my problem right now, to find the hardware that fits my needs.
