  1. Hi Guys.

I had a spin with UnRaid a few years ago. I did not have the best of times with it but that could have been down to my hardware. Anyway I am in the process or building a 14TB box using proper and correct server based components.

I just want to see if things have moved on and if UnRaid is the product for me. I am looking at FreeNas as well. My setup will used this thus:

2TB needed for VMware ESXi datastore and would like to use iSCSI rather than NFS. - Is this possible?

The rest of the storage space to be used for movies, pictures, backups for the VM's

Are there any streaming plugsins that XBMC or Plex?

    Any DLNA support?

Will post any others as i find them.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Hello.

I have installed curl from the list of dependencies but when i try to install Transmission i am told the following

Required dependency, curl-7.21.4-i486-1.txz, has not been installed. Please install it before installing pyLoad.

You can install the package Here

    Any ideas?

  3. Any ideas why I'm getting these network errors?

Performance doesn't seem to be effected (not benchmarked however) but I remember these error messages were an issue before, so what is happening now?

I'm rather rusty and there are a few things in your syslog I haven't seen before, and I don't know anything about your previous network issues, so my comments may or may not be helpful.  The "link up" messages are not errors, just an indication of a connection (or reconnection) to the physical network.  There are a batch of these messages late in your syslog that do seem odd, in that they have no corresponding "link down" message, but I don't know the significance.  They seem harmless, but the network driver may be a bit confused.

Also, any ideas why I keep getting:

    Dec 8 20:04:18 Tower emhttp: shcmd (69): /usr/sbin/hdparm -y /dev/sda &> /dev/null

That is just the manual command to the Cache drive to spin down.  It is not an array drive, so spin down is handled differently.  Completely normal.

    Hello.

Just my 2p and may not be any use. What type of switch do you have that your are plugged in to?

I have seen messages like that on other systems when the network port is flapping, ie coming up and down. Sometimes this is due to a speed and duplex issues between the device and the switch.

    Just a thought.

  4. Hi guys.

I have searched the forums for DLNA and while there is info out there i am confused if its still current.

I have just purchased a Samsung 51" 1080p 3D Plasma which comes with DLNA. Perfect. I have all my movies on my unRaid box in various formats, MKV, VOB, AVI etc. I would like to connect my Samsung to unRaid. From what i have seen from searching there are a few options. minidlna , ps3mediacenter etc.

However the forum notes said that minidlna was under unMenu but i cant see it in the packages which makes me think some of the posts are not vaild anymore.

So does anyone have any up to date information. I would really like my unRaid to be my DLNA server. What are the best options out there for me to look at and try?

    Many thanks in advance

  5. Im going to watch this thread. My Beta 13 rig seems to be quite happy right now and i dont want to play with her just yet.

I do use NFS for ESXi so having NFS support is critical to me using the product. The only thing that would make me switch it off is iSCSI.

However here is hoping Beta 14 works out for you guys. Would like to upgrade but think i will sit tight.

    Craig

  6. Ok. I am up and running.

Went over it and went over it and i must have done something wrong as on reboot everything seems to be working and i can backup to CP.

Now a couple of questions. Am i right in thinking that i only need the SSH tunnel when i want to configure CP on unRaid? Outside of that anything that i copy to unRaid will be backed up correct?

    Thanks in advance

  7. As far as i know.

    I have followed

I'm running PuTTY. You need to port-forward port 4200 on your local machine to 4243 on the unRAID server (this is the actual unRAID server engine port!)

In Putty, this is under the connection -> ssh -> tunnels menu

Add 4200 as the source port, then in the destination enter localhost:4243

Make sure you save this to your unRAID server session so you don't have to do it again next time!

Login to your unRAID server via ssh using this newly updated connection

  8. Ok. im a bit further. I am confused by the conf file. Does this look right to you? When i open CrashPlan but it cant connect

    #Fri Dec 09 09:50:22 CST 2005

    #serviceHost=127.0.0.1

    #servicePort=4243

    #pollerPeriod=1000  # 1 second

    #connectRetryDelay=10000  # 10 seconds

    #connectRetryAttempts=3

    #showWelcome=true

    #font.default=

    #font.title=

    #font.message.header=

    #font.message.body=

    servicePort=4200

  9. Guys.

Trying to get this up and running. I have downloaded CrashPlan and i am following the instructions from page 24. When i issue the command below i get the following. Any ideas?

    root@Apu:/boot/packages# tar -zxfv CrashPlan_3.0.3_Linux.tgz

tar (child): v: Cannot open: No such file or directory

tar (child): Error is not recoverable: exiting now

    tar: Child returned status 2

tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

    root@Apu:/boot/packages#

  10. Guys.

I am very tempted by CrashPlan. I would be looking to backup to unRaid and then unRaid up to CrashPlan.  I am interested in other that are using the product.

If i am backing up to unRaid and then unRaid to CrashPlan do i just need a licence for the unRaid box or do all of my machines that backup to unRaid need a licence?

Also i back my ESXi guests up to unRaid so will i be able have them sent off to CrashPlan?

May have other questions but that should get me started

  11. Ok so i have checked my BISO and i cant see anything that i can set to do with memory or power. Apart from how fast my fan goes LOL.

I also performed a checkdisk on my USB key in windows as i was getting lots of errors on start up. This seems to have fixed the boot up stuff.

But i am sure that my crash is going to come back as somepoint.
