You can get an 8 port LSI like the 9211-8i or 9300-8i and a SAS expander, get multiple 8 port HBAs, or get 24 port HBA, but those are usually more expensive than a HBA plus expander.
To clarify -- Does the 8 port mean that it supports 8 drives? So I would need 4 - 8 port HBAs?

Starting to expand my current unraid, and kind of want to "go big or go home". I am fairly new to this so excuse me if I use wrong terminology.
Found a deal on this case above that has the backplane and power supply working, no mobo or sas card. I am going to install as many WD RED drives in this as possible and my main concern is the connectivity. The backplane is powered by 6x molex and has 6 miniSAS connections.
What SAS card do I need to buy to get all 24 drives working? Looking at the compatibility list (https://wiki.unraid.net/Hardware_Compatibility#PCI_SATA_Controllers) It just looks like gibberish to me. I would like to make sure I am getting SATA3 speeds at least.
Any help or guidance is appreciated. Thanks
Windows Storage Not Updating
in General Support
Posted
I upgraded a 2 TB drive to a 4 TB and in the unraid webui total space is higher, but I have a mapped drive on Windows thats still showing the old total storage amount.
I have restarted both unraid and the windows machine and still says old total. What am I missing?
