December 19, 20205 yr Hello Everybody! I am quite interested in unraid for storage (replace old qnap, 8HDDs desired) and docker (plex, smart home, minor web applications). Is there a way I can reuse my current gaming/CAD PC to run unraid on it while still fulfilling its gaming/CAD (MS flight simulator 2020 mid settings, fusion 360, rhino, blender) use cases? Specs of current system: i7 8700, 32GB Ram, GTX 1060 6GB. There are no more PCI slots free for a SATA controller, so how can I connect the desired 8 HDDs? Seems I would also need to transfer the HW into a new case with more HDD slots. Was considering this one. WDYT? So, if we solve the SATA controller question, I should be able to run my current gaming use case in a VM on unraid with pass through of the graphics card, correct? Anything I am missing? Alternatively, I would also consider buying a storage/docker specific separate rig (budget 400 USD w/o HDDs). Would that be a better idea? Thank you!
