After sporadic trying to get my rig virtualized, I finally tried unraid.

So far it's been a pretty smooth experience and I'm getting closer to raw performance.

 

But as always, there's an issue keeping me from using it as a daily driver.

This time it's audio, I heard faint crackles, nothing major, but unbearable over multiple minutes.

I tried setting the Sample rate, but at that point it gets even worse. The standard 48000 Hz at 32bit have the only a slight crackle.

 

Then, Windows threw in a wrench an updated the driver of my usb dac, now it's unusable to the point where you can't decipher what you're hearing..

The same thing with my usb mic (using it's builtin dac for listening)

 

I tried cpu pinning and binding my gpu to no avail.

 

I'm running an AMD Ryzen 5 2600X with 32 GB of memory, a GTX 960 as a primary card (until I figure out something else) and passing through a GTX 1080.

My usb dac is a Fiio K5 Pro.

I have the same Issue on Windows and Linux guests, for now, I'll focus on Windows, as that is my primary virtualization target.

 

I'll hopefully get back to it this evening.

Yes, this is common. You need to passthough the controller (make sure this separate then your unraid usb)
