September 30, 200718 yr I have user security enabled (which is exactly what I want). I am using 2 Xbox's for mediaplayers with no issues. I can set a username/password. I am using the MediaGate 35 which doesnt give the option for username/password. Is there any way that I can turn off user security for 1 share?

Two minutes of googling and I found this: "(The manual is a bit vague about it, but it turns out the share needs to be accessible to one of the following username/password combinations: Guest / (blank); Administrator / (blank); Media / gate.)" Hopefully you can use the last one without compromising your desire for security. We won't tell anyone ... promise! Cheers, Bill

Cheers, Bill I set up a user media with a password of gate with my MG-35, it works just fine. Note: You can't create "Media" with a capital letter "M" as the previous post suggested... unraid will not accept as valid a user name that is not all lower case. Use media (all lower case) and gate for the password, and unRaid will accept it and the MG-35 will work perfectly. Joe L.
October 1, 200718 yr Joe/H4L, how do you guys like that Mediagate? I have been waffling about putting a dedicated device or going with an HTPC. At this point, my needs are minimal so an HTPC is probably overkill, though my geek-genes will always push me that way. Bill
October 1, 200718 yr Author Perfect... Thanks guys! The MG-35 is nice because it generates hardly any heat since you dont need the internal hard drive. With the upgraded firmware the GUI is acceptable (not as pretty as the XBMC). 1 thing I dont like is that it doesn't pause for the unRaid HD to spin up. My XBOX/XBMC will wait for the drive to spin up before connecting to the network share.
