Passing through a PCIe TV tuner

Recommended Posts

I have had some trouble trying to pass through a TV tuner to my VM.

I switched from an i7 7700 to a Ryzen 5 2600. It worked flawlessly on the i7 but i needed some more cores. and memory expansion.

Everything worked fine except passing through the TV tuner. It does not exist in its own IOMMU group so i tried the ACS override and the below command in my flash drive config.

kernel /bzimage
append iommu=pt vfio-pci.ids=14f1:8852 initrd=/bzroot

Both allow me to assign it to my VM but the second it boots the whole system falls over and  i have to power off the system, restart and then un assign the tv tuner for normal operation to resume. (all be it without the tv tuner function)

I am on the latest bios and have tried rolling it back also. Tried the card in different PCI slots also.

Any advice or blatant mistakes I may have over looked?
