problem with new shares

Featured Replies

so i just enabled user shares on 4.2 and i am having a slight problem.

i have 8 physical disks in my server and before using user shares, i had movies stored on disks 1, 2, and 8.  on each of these disks there was a folder called Movies on the root of the drive.  inside the movies folder was a folder for each movie, and inside each of those folders was a video_TS folder.

so i turned on user shares and for the Movies share i used the following settings:

Share name: movies

comments: Movie Collection

Allocation Method: High-water

Split Level: 1

Included Disks: disk1, disk2, disk8

Excluded Disks: disk3,disk4,disk5,disk6,disk7

the problem is that if i browse to \\storagetower\movies, all i see is the movies from disk1.  what is going on there?

ok i found the problem - on disk 1 the movies folder had a lowercase m and on the other 2 disks it had an uppercase M.  i enabled the disk shares, changed the capital M to a lowercase and then stopped the array, disabled the user shares.  started the arry.  stopped the array again and re-enabled the disk shares and now it works.

didnt realize that was case sensitive.
