TheWombat
The following USB Flash drives were tested on a Gigabyte GA-880GMA-UD2H revision 2.2 motherboard and unRaid 4.7 final Kingston DataTraveler 2.0gb - successfully boots unRaid and presents a unique* GUID - PASS Boot speed: fast Viking Interworks 256mb - successfully boots unRaid however invalid GUID (only first 8 digits) - FAIL Boot speed: slow AMD branded 1GB Metal Dog-Tag style - successfully boots unRaid and presents a unique* GUID - PASS Boot speed: fast note: Image is for representative purposes only - it looks like these are rebranded from some common source Windows 7 branded 1GB Bamboo style - successfully boots unRaid and presents a unique* GUID - PASS Boot speed: fast note: Image is for representative purposes only - it looks like these are rebranded from some common source EMTEC S100 Micro Series 4GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive (EKMMD4GS100): Non unique GUID - FAIL Boot speed: fast Note: Someone else on the forum tried one of these Micro Flash Drives although from a different brand and had the same result. i.e. a full length GUID is presented, however it is not unique. A real shame as they are the perfect size! My definition of a unique/valid GUID Note: *Unique GUID is assumed based on format of GUID presented, i.e. it has what appears to be a random strong without 3 or more repeating zeros. i.e. 0951-1607-0000-803190704581 - assumed valid 1E3D-2093-0420-060057B3D702 - assumed valid 058F-6387-0000-0000758C8C44 - assumed valid 05E3-0727-0000-000000000208 - assumed not valid (and confirmed by LimeTech to not be unique) 0930-6507- - - assumed not valid So it looks like my unRaid server OS may be being hosted on an AMD or Microsoft Windows 7 branded flash drive! Hope this is useful - feel free to post your own results Alex Link to comment
