Pfsense VM Package Loss

Featured Replies

Hello, after some long days of trying, i am out of ideas and hopeing for some help.

I decided to virtalize my pfSense Firewall.

I bought an extra network card for my server and with the help of spaceinvaderone it was quite easy to pass the network card trough and get the Pfsense vm running, eveything works exept 1 problem.

If my host machine is under load, for example extracking a large docker file, the ping is spikeing and package loss occurs.

All types of loads on the CPU produce this behauvior.

Things i've done:

I checked all cables

Passed trough my motherboards nic instead of the pcie ones

Bridging the nic instead of passtrough

Cpu pinning and cpu isolation

Using the vm with passedtrough CPUs and with virtuelle CPUS

My specs:

Intel® Xeon® CPU E3-1230 V2 @ 3.30GHz

Supermicro X9SCL/X9SCM, Version 1.11A
American Megatrends Inc., Version 2.3a
BIOS dated: Wed 06 Jan 2021 12:00:00 AM CET

Unraid: 6.9.2

Ty for your help.
