cache swapfile and clean powerdown

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I read this post:

http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=6458.0

which was basically about the automatically doing a clean powerdown and a swapfile on the cache drive. That was back in version 4.4.

Is it possible now to do a clean powerdown with a swapfile in the cache.

I'm interested in the swap file as I don't have a lot of free memory:

total            used            free    shared    buffers    cached

Mem:      1813324    1767052      46272          0    140676    1332880

-/+ buffers/cache:    293496    1519828

Swap:            0          0          0

I run the apcupsd package and would like it to be able to do a clean powerdown if the swapfile was on the cache drive.

Thanks Josh

No, nothing has changed.

You may have a swap file defined, but it is completely unused based on your "free" output.

Do not be fooled by the column marked as "free"  since you have it mostly in disk buffer cache.  Your actual "available" free space is 1519828 as shown in the second line.  Unless you are doing something very memory intensive, you have no need for a swap file at all.
