I'm curious if someone has ever considered writing a small application that would:

 

1) Analyze space remaining on unRAID drives

2) Analyze the size of folders on the drives

3) Tell you which combination of those folders will best utilize space on the drives

 

I ask, because most of my drives have anywhere from 500MB to 2.5GB remaining on them.  I know that choosing different combinations of folders could easily fill each drive more efficiently, most likely providing space for at least another movie or two.

 

BTW - I know that drives are cheap, etc.  This is probably just my personality -wanting to use what I DO have, as efficiently as possible.
