Unraid 6.10.3 Wireguard Issues

Featured Replies

Hi. I've already posted on reddit, so appologies if some of you see this question twice.

Having upgraded to Unraid 6.10.3 from 6.9.2 my wireguard VPN is no longer working (this is the one under Settings -> Network Settings -> VPN Manager).

By no longer works what I mean is that, from a device not on my local network:

  • I can "connect" to the vpn. It does a handshake with the server, and a small amount of data is sent and received
  • From that device that's connected, I can access other devices on my local network, including the unraid server
  • I cannot access the internet from the device though

I find this weird because when I initially set this up, I believe I had the opposite issue where I could access the internet, but could not access anything hosted on unraid, that used the same IP as unraid. This was fixed by adding a custom route to my router.

At the bottom are a bunch of screenshots of what I believe are all the relevant bits, though let me know if I missed anything useful: https://imgur.com/a/dnbXehM (imgur albumn if you'd prefer)

The things I've tried so far are:

  • Turning the server hosting unraid off and on again
  • Turning wireguard off and on again
  • Switching my vpn dns on my device from pihole to 1.1.1.1
  • Creating a new config
  • Creating a new tunnel (and redoing port forwarding and advanced routing)
  • Upgrading to 6.11.0-rc4
  • Switching between the Deny/Allow Rule setting under the advanced toggle
  • Googling stuff and double checking values
  • Crying

All of these seemed to have no affect on the behaviour. Any advice or suggestions of things to try would be greatly appreciated

I also have the same issue if any one find a fix :'( ty

EDIT EDIT : the fix was not doing it. It only allowed me to have access to the internet and not to the lan so still useless since i need to have access to some vm !

FOUND FIX : Hello for me the problem was that i setup cloudflare a month ago and did not use the vpn since. Actually for some reason I need to put the cloudflare dns IP adress (1.1.1.1) in the Peer dns configuration. I dont understand since i put my public ip in the wireguard configuration and not my domain name that I use for my dockers and stuff.

I found the fix here :

If anyone has an idea on why it needs cloudflare dns i'm down!
