July 10, 201114 yr Just going to post my experiences because it's funny I ended up using a Mac to get it working, as well as the slight possibility this might help someone else out there. Oh, the Windows box I was using here was Windows 7. Started trying out the free unRAID a few days ago, had some trouble getting it to boot. I tried an Adata 4GB and a Corsair Voyager 16GB, each with both 4.7 and latest 5.0beta8. The only combo that worked was the Adata 4GB and beta. Not really wanting to be forced to run the beta, I went out to a local big box and purchased an overpriced, I almost never buy comp stuff locally , Sandisk Cruzer (not Micro) 8GB. Once again tried 4.7 and the beta, both gave me "Boot Error". "Boot Error" on my board means that the system did try to boot it. When it's not even able to find anything bootable it gives "DISK BOOT FAILURE, ....". Started reading more, tried U3 removal but none was present, double checked MBR, Active, made sure ldlinux file was being created In past experiences I have often noticed that Windows disk management doesn't allow me to do certain things to some partitions/drives, options greyed out, etc., not sure why but anyway, I decided might as well stick the Cruzer in the Mac and try Disk Util. I did so, partitioned the drive with 1 partition and made sure MBR option was selected, also formatted it FAT, which on Mac Disk Util I think just means FAT32. Then I stuck it in the Windows box to put the files on and run make_bootable. And, now my planned unRAID box boots fine into 4.7. Didn't try the beta yet.
