Is there a good guide for home NAS servers that are low power usage.

I need it powerful enough to be able to handle PLEX with a few users. I'm mainly looking for CPU/motherboard recommendations.

Need more specifics: Is this just a Plex host or is it also responsible for storage? How much storage? Do you need live transcoding?

A good low effort starting place is a i3 Intel ITX system with no extension cards:

  • Intel iGPUs have decent hardware transcoding
  • ITX boards have less real estate to power
