Issues with hardware transcoding using Unmanic and AMD RX 6700 XT

Featured Replies

Edit: forgot to mention I'm running 6.12.4-rc19

Hello all, I recently installed an unused RX 6700 XT in my Dell Precision Tower 5810. I can see the GPU in Unraid under Tools>System Devices as "

[1002:73df] 05:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Navi 22 [Radeon RX 6700/6700 XT/6750 XT / 6800M/6850M XT] (rev c5)".

I just started using Unmanic as an attempt to cut some fat off of my plex library without redownloading everything. I've gone ahead and installed the plugin Radeon-TOP and GPU Statistics so everything is good there and I can see the card with it's current status on my dashboard as well as by running "RadeonTOP" in Unraid's terminal.

If i run "CD /dev/dri" followed by "ls" i get a return of "by-path/  card0  renderD128" so everybody is happy and the card is clearly detected.

For Unmanic's docker container i have followed the instructions given by their docs and added the extra parameters of "--device=/dev/dri --cpus='2'"  (the cpus flag is just a safeguard to prevent resource hogging).

Jumping into Unmanic... In my transcode settings i have selected "HEVC/H265" using "VAAPI - hevc_vaapi" as the encoder. It even lets me select VAAPI Device of "/dev/dri/renderD128" so this tells me even the container can see my card.

Unfortunately this does not result in GPU transcoding and still goes right to the CPU instead...

I've double checked that my transcode plugin is both globally and locally set to use VAAPI transcoding on this library.

I am at a loss of where to go from here, I've spent a few hours searching the web using every term i can think of and most results come back to people having trouble passing through Intel Igpu or Nvidia so neither solutions would work for me.

I've attached my diag if that'll be of any help. Thank you.
