October 22, 201114 yr I just installed a new Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 controller. Everything boots fine but I don't see the new drive avaiable in UnRaid. During the boot up process I see that the drive is recognized by the controller card but when I look in UnRaid I don't see the drive as available. Attached is my syslog - any ideas? I updated to the newest version of Unraid (5.0-beta12a ) and all works fine - thanks everybody for your help syslog-2011-10-22.txt
October 25, 201114 yr Author Just looking for a little help (see above post) I checked my cables and they are in fact the correct forward breakout cables. When I boot my server I can see that the controller is recognized as well as my new 2 TB WD EARS drive. Again - the problem is that the new drive does not sho as available on the devices page within the UnRaid menu. I am currnetly running UnRaid 4.7 with a P7H55-M PRO mother board Any help is much appreciated. JDM
October 25, 201114 yr what bios is on that AOC-SASLP-MV8? a few have shipped out with an OEM RAID bios that is not compatible.
October 25, 201114 yr The card is not seen during the bootup - make sure that it is properly seated in the slot - if brand new and you just swapped the half-height with the regular PCI bracket- they are to be mounted on the opposite sides and will prevent the card to be properly seated if used incorectly
October 25, 201114 yr Author johnm The Bios version is 4.0.0.1800 bcbgboy13 The card is seated properly and is recognized during boot up. The new drive shows up in the Supermicro bios.
October 25, 201114 yr If your firmware is 4.0.0.1800 then you have AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 and not SASLP-MV8. Anyway there are no traces of this card in the syslog you attached. Perhaps it works in the 5beta, but I am not following these.
October 25, 201114 yr Author Thanks BCBGBOY13 & JOHNM I'll look into this and reply back with the results. JDM
