December 10, 201114 yr First of all, I am a total newb. After scouring pages and pages of this forum, I realize this community is very tech savvy. So any replies will have to be dumbed down considerably. I bought an UNRAID server from limetech about 2 years ago, and after weeks of newbie fits, finally got it up and running. I had to put it in storage for a year and a half due to a "job relocation" and I'm running into some problems getting it back up. I am running v 4.5 on the server, and have it connected to a router which is not connected to the internet. Just a simple private network. I can access the SMU page by typing either 192.168.2.x or the \\tower route in the URL and run parities, tweek settings, shut down, etc. The windows 7 PC I am controlling this from though does not recognize the server shares I have set up. I cannot access any of the shares in the network/computer page of my PC! Both are WORKGROUP so it's not that. I don't have the network set up as a homegroup due to the annoying restrictions and passwords associated with that. I have tried making it a work network, a public network. I have turned on network discovery, made all kinds of adjustments, totally turned off the firewall on router and norton and windows. It has to be a windows 7 thing! I originally had it up and running using a PC running vista and everything was hunky dory. The server is just not popping up after mapping the network in windows. All the shares in the server are set up to export/read/write. I just need some stupid adjustment for windows 7 to recognize it! I am really pulling my hair out over this! Please help!

December 17, 201114 yr getting my head around it. from your windows 7 machine you can open a web browser and go to http://tower or http://192.168.2.x But can not browse the share from your windows 7 machine (from going start run \\tower\<SHARE NAME ) ? is that correct? Can you . from the run command do a \\tower ? unsure if there is any compability issues with 4.5 with windows 7 , latest non beta is 4.7
