str1der Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Appears to have room for 6 SATA drives. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-PowerEdge-2950-3-2Ghz-Dual-Core-4GB-2-5-SAS-SATA-DVD-Tested-/220913512650?pt=COMP_EN_Servers&hash=item336f78b0ca
Rajahal Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 It might work, but there's a few iffy points. First of all, do you really want to be limited to using only 2.5" drives? You'll spend twice as much for the same amount of storage capacity. Secondly, the RAID controller may or may not work. If it has a JBOD or NO-RAID mode, then it may work. If not, then it probably won't work. Finally, these types of systems are not designed to be low-power, so you will consume more power and pay more in the long run. I suggest you would be much better off building your own 6 drive server based on my prototype design (link in my sig).
