Hi n00b here  ;D

 

I have a new 10 disk unRAID system.. Lets say I set up a share in the UI called "anime"

 

I see that it creates the share fine on the first disk..

 

I map a network drive to the share

 

I rip my anime dvd's to the share

 

uh oh, I run out of room on the first HD

 

1. Isn't the system supposed to continue copying onto the next available HD?  Right now I'm manually creating a directory on another HD and copying directly to disk2/anime

 

2. also when do the new files show up in the share?

 

I just want to make sure it's the way it's supposed to work..

If you have your "split level" set to 0, a folder on one disk will not be duplicated on any other.  Odds are you have it set to 0 as it is the default.

 

If you set "split level" to 1, the top level folder will be duplicated as needed to other drives. If split level is set to 2, the top and second level folders will be duplicated as needed.

I guess I didn't understand split levels very well.. time to do more reading..
