Is there any real advantage of accessing with putty and doing MC to Move, Copy, or Delete files instead of using something like teracopy in Vista to do copy, paste and such?  I get similar speeds from either one.  Using Teracopy at least shows me what percent I have to go.  MC doesn't.

 

What other way could I be doing this that might be better?

 

 

If you are transferring files within a server (between two disks), then MC is much faster as the transfer bypasses the network.  If the transfer is from another computer/server on the network, then TeraCopy is just fine (and it checks your files afterwards, which is nice).  Frankly, I only use MC when I'm in a hurry.  At all times, I use TeraCopy in Windows (7, not Vista).
