mg99 Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 I had originally set up the unraid box to be a fixed ip address: 192.168.1.130. My router went out and I ended up purchasing a new Airport Extreme which has a different DNS Server: 10.0.1.1. I'm now not able to get back into my box via IE or Firefox. Is there a way for me to change the IP address of my server from the command line of the server?
Wody Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 You can alter the file 'config/network.cfg' on your flashdrive to change the ip-address. Don't forget to alter the rest of the values such as netmask etc as well, or set the USE_DHCP-value to "yes" so it will gain one automaticly, and then find out the new address from the router, or the unraid-console (with something like the command ifconfig) and then use the webpage to set it to new values.
daniel.boone Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Woody beat me to it This is not from the command line but it will get you running again. When you set it up unRaid you added a static ip to the network.cfg file in the config directory on the flash drive. Edit the file and restart the system. Hopefully you have the power down script installed so the system can be restarted gracefully. Another possibilty is if the Airport Extreme allows you to modify the network settings. You could change that to match the old network. You won't have to rework your network which for some of use could be a real chore
mrow Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Hi, As you said you have a static IP all you have to do is call your ISP and see if it can be changed, most cable internet service provider use DHCP to automatically assign the IP address .Without considering your ISP you can change your IP address but if you change the IP address you will lost your connection. So it is better to ask your ISP.After changing your IP address you can check your IP address by visiting the site IP-Details.com . Dude, 1. he's talking about setting a static IP for the server on his local network, not his WAN IP and 2. this thread is over a year and a half old. Please don't bump old threads unless there is a clear reason to.
