Windows 11 VM stopped working after CPU upgrade

Featured Replies

I'm sure this is something simple, but I'm still a noob and can't figure it out. I have a Windows 11 VM with an VIDIA Quadro K620 passed thru that was working perfectly. I can't remember why, but I had it setup to access via Chrome Remote desktop rather than VNC (doesn't show up as an option in VM options).

Today, I upgraded my CPU from an i5-12400 to an i9-12900K. Everything booted up perfectly and is working well (array, cache drives, docker, etc). The only problem is that my VM starts but I can't access it via Chrome Remote Desktop. I suspect the BIOS is detecting a CPU change and is awaiting a response to acknowledge the change. Since it never loads to the desktop, I can't see what's going on. I don't see anything obvious in the Logs, but I don't really know what to be looking for though. How should I proceed to get this VM working again so I don't have to start all over?

The VM will start up and I can log in via Chrome Remote Desktop, but the resolution is extremely low and the system is completely unresponsive. I can see all my desktop icons from before, but I can't click on anything. I've tried pinning the same CPU cores as what was pinned on the old 12400, but no luck. My Nvidia Quadro K620 appears in VM manager to be passing through, but inside the VM itself it doesn't appear to be working maybe?

I recreated the VM using the exact same settings and Vdisks, and now it works perfectly. Not sure why it worked, but I'll take it!
