April 26, 200818 yr So the situation is this... Unraid 4.3 beta 6. Working solid for a few weeks. One morning the Unraid server started acting up. First transfers were really slow. Then computers could not see the shares properly. I could access the web config, but Unraid wasn't visible from other PC's. At this point rather than reading the syslog and trying to troubleshoot for countless hours, I decided to wipe my flash and redo. So what I've done is wiped the flash drive. I had many shares happening. I think what happened was I was playing around so much with my unraid settings it became confused somewhere. I have re-assigned the drives to their previous disk device slots. If I manually enter the shares settings , will everything be back to normal?
April 26, 200818 yr I've played around with shares a little and yes if you add them manually I believe you'll be back to 100% Erik
April 26, 200818 yr unRAID is not like MS-Windows... you do not have to re-load it to make it work faster. if anything, an occasional reboot is all you will ever need to do, and that is under rare conditions. Re-loading the flash drive with a newer release might make things faster, but odds are you will not see much difference if your array was working previously. Now, on the other hand, re-booting your router will often help. I've often seen performance improve when it gets re-booted. Joe L.
April 26, 200818 yr Thanks Joe. I did reboot the router, machine etc etc. Nothing seemed to alleviate the slowdowns..

Your slowdowns are probably not related to these network visibility issues. Usually the first thing to check is to make sure that every machine is using the same workgroup name, and rebooted. One minor source of apparent slowing down is after you begin to fill your drives. Files stored toward the end of the drive are accessed about a third slower than files stored at the beginning. Other sources of slowness should be evident in your syslog, and if you attach it, we may be able to help you find the problem.
